• NANO NANO

Hi all ….. Does anyone have an I Pod NANO? I’m in the market to get my teenage girls I Pods for x mass this year. I have been taking a beating because they seem to be the only kids without one amongst their friends. I have been holding off giving them as Holiday gifts, rather than give in to the “Don’t you love us” trap. (If you have daughters, you know what I’m talking about)

Anyways, looking at the NANO’s, they seem like they would snap in half easily. Are they just as durable as the mini’s, or anyone have had issues with them? My wife say’s we should just upgrade their cell phones with the one’s that have MP3 capabilities. I don’t know zip about that either. Anybody have that option on their phone?

I’ll take any other suggestions on X Mass gifts, or am I the only one jumping the gun with this stuff?

There is a lawsuit that claims the Nano is defective. Beware

Man, I have twin daughters, so I feal your pain! Now sit down and drink a beer. I’ve got one of these nanno thingies and have it loaded with all my metal and pics of the family. It’s pretty cool. If you get it for the girls, I think you’ll wind up buying one for yourself. The thing is built pretty tough, don't scratch the screen though. Buy a composite case for it. Also, buy it through Apple.com and have it personalized. Good Luck.

The whole case revolves around the screen. They claim it is made in a way that screen damage is almost unavoidable. If you send it back to Apple, they charge you $25. They want to have the consumers get that back. They claim Apple knowingly produced a screen that was prone to fail by the materials they had tested and used in the Nano.. They claim that Apple, knowing that the screen material was not good enough, released the Nano anyway. FYI.

I have one and love it. I'm very careful with it but it does scratch easily.

I have an ipod mini 6gb, and love it. my brother just bought a 4gb nano, and it seems just as well built but they have been having troubles with the new screens being very easily scratched. Apple has sorted it out now it seems, and will also replace your ipod/mini/nano under warranty if it has the "scratchy screen"

I think you really can't go wrong with an ipod, no matter what size.

One thing though, if your girls are very much into music then you might want to go for 4Gb but if they just download the latest TRL hit every now and then 2Gb should be enough.
(although you might get a shitstorm for not buying the biggest nano available )
and by the way, the laser engraving is really cool too. (and it's free..'twas at least when I bought my mini)
looks great and is also a small incentive to keep people from snagging it.

good luck

The Creative Labs products have better internal components in terms of fidelity, and they also cost less....

After demoing a Zen XTRA versus a newer gen Ipod, I quickly went with Creative.

The only damn thing is that young girls would likely want "the in thing" and part of the Ipods higher price tag is the fact tha tApple knows its a "status" thing at the moment and is pricing accordingly!

I've got an Ipod Mini and it's great. Fantastic quality, which was a big issue with me. Most MP3 players are junk... not durable at all. I bought my brother a RIO last year for Christmas and well, let's just say I'm glad I got an Ipod...
