• My brother the Suicidal Tendency (Halloween pic)

We played a Halloween show, and my brother decided to dress as a Suicidal Tendency. Pretty obscure considering that most of the attendees probably weren't old enough to remember ST's peak, but still...

Pic is "artistically blurry" but that's a Charvel.

No, we were doing originals, and as (bad) luck would have it, had our set cut to a mere four songs. I don't know if it's the club's own rules or some St. Paul city shenanigans, but as an 18+ show in a bar, all drinks had to be kept at the bar or tables on the far side of the venue opposite the stage...with a wall in between. There are some open (no glass) windows on the bar side overlooking the stage, but other than those few people who were willing to leave their drinks and/or friends at the bar, it was pretty empty in front of the stage. It stayed that way until Impaler and Prong came on, but by then I was too tired to care.

Impaler? As in Impaler from the 80's? Holy crap, I haven't heard a thing about them since, well the 80's. Jeez, my father bought me one of their cassettes for my 15th birthday in 1985. He based his decision on the fact that it had the most grotesque album cover in the store. It was a dude chewing on raw meat with some hoochie lying dead underneath him. He knew that it had to be metal.

Yup, that'd be the EP Rise Of The Mutants. Check the BNR link for info and a pic of the cover:

He kind of looks like Mike Clark.

It is indeed the same Impaler you're talking about. They tracked drums for their latest CD at the same studio where we recorded our first album. Their guitarist Brad is a very cool guy, and even though they musically aren't quite my thing, they put on a great live show.

"This next song is about road kill. I don't mean dead animals, I mean dead human beings. This is one we call MEAT WAGON!!!"

                  Quality stuff!
