[ QUOTE ]
Just had a guy on TV here in Cleveland that was robbed at gunpoint of his XBox360 after picking it up from the store he'd ordered it from during the summer. Black on Black crime issue also being stated in this instance.

One guy put a gun to his head and the other grabbed his box!

Damn!

But then it begs the question, which one of them ended up with the machine, and did they play quick draw for it?

Funny, if you get an Xbox 360, put it on ebay... right now they're fetching $800+, with a few auctions in the last several days in the $1000-$3000 range, with a few BIN at $5000.

I'll just wait till I can buy one for $400.

Yeah I saw those. I'm tempted to email them lowball offers

In related news, there's more reports of people being robbed at gunpoint for their 360s. If the victims will contact MS with their UPC numbers (if they managed to keep the receipt), then MS can track them by the machine's serial number when they get online. Imagine some douche playing Madden06 online when the Feds kick his door in cuz he was tracked through XBox Live

Eh, I've still got my Atari 2600 with a shitload of games in the basement somewhere, as well as the Sega Master System and Sega Saturn. I've got Nintendo Game Cube in the living room with a fair amount of games, but I hardly play that any more. Guess I should probably play them a little and get offline more, huh? This could be "360Gate". In the never ending fight to get the "best" system to market, did Bill and his pals "overlook" some "issues" that may crop up?

Check this auction out, I don't think the bidders read it...

Nope, looks about like the Q/C they subject their operating systems to before release.

Re: XBox360 and the Evil that is WalMart

With the PS3 being another 6 months or more away, I think I'll be able to save up enough money between now and then to afford it and a 360 - I do have a job.

I have to say I'm not surprised about the "shortages", but I am feeling insulted by the fact that they had 3 trailers slam full of 360s for their little party in the desert, but less than 20 per store on launch day? And then they say they didn't hold anything back - everything they produced went to a store? They aslo say that as soon as they come off the assembly line they go on a plane?
Then why weren't there any more systems in WalMart yesterday? Have the factories gone on strike? I know they don't celebrate Thanksgiving, so there was no holiday. So where's the excuse?

I'd bet my testicles there's a trailer behind every WalMart right now, and has been since 3 days before Launch Day, stacked end to end with systems, and all but the initial 14-15 units were wrapped in tape that said "Do Not Open Till December".

As for the system crashes and "stuff catching on fire" reports - on one hand I'd say it was people doing their own "burn-in" tests; letting the system run non-stop, but probably on carpet or in a storage/easy-access/unventilated cabinet, with God-Knows-What around it/on it increasing the heat or overloading a power strip, or they were just trying to hack it and ran across a new defense system MS is working on.

Then again, Made In China using the thinnest wire we can get away with.
