Re: How long for response from ebay seller?

I get nervous after about 48 hours too, since the only transactions I've done on EBay where it took longer than 48 hours for the seller to respond turned out to be scams! Paypal makes you wait like 7 days before you can file a dispute, which you should do immediately if you haven't heard from the seller in that time. You could also try to contact any other ebayers the seller may have recently had transactions with in order to obtain a phone number / address. That worked out for me once and allowed me to stop someone from trying to rip me off.

Fill out the Request Contact Info form and call them on the telephone. Even if you get a voicemail or answering machine you have somewhat eliminated the "I didn't go online for awhile" thing.

Also, that positive feedback doesn't always indicate timeliness. His other buyers could be casual about it, or they figure if the item was good then slowness doesn't warrant a neg or neutral.

Actually, the seller just responded to me a few minutes ago, said he was sorry for the delay and that he didn't check his computer for two days and didn't expect his item to sell so quick. He thanked me and said he would ship it tomorrow morning and send me a tracking number in the evening, so looks like all is taken care of.

Well, it'll be "taken care of" fully when you receive the item undamaged

Re: How long for response from ebay seller?

They do not have to have any contact with you after you pay, and they have a good deal more time to ship an item..legally I believe they have 30 days to deliver an item or have it delivered to you past dated time of transaction or purchase (per US postal law regarding fraud?) Ebay gives a seller alot of leeway on this.

Granted, it is really not a good seller or communicator (in my book at least) who doesn't communicate any word past the invoice at all and it takes weeks to send an item out with no notice..if a buyer waits seven days to pay or not communicate...with some sellers, you get an item dispute and those fun red exclamation points !

So with respect to communication and being timely on eBay ..IMO it is definitely the buyer who gets put under the gun more than the seller from all fronts.

Some sellers get uptight if you obtain thier contact info but moreso if you call them and ask for a tracking # or a confirmation of being shipped. You have every right to be bugged by this, but I'd wait a few weeks at the most before I get to wound up on it unless there is a need for urgency. (like a gift)

Got it today... well, it's after 2:00 in the morning now, so technically yesterday, the 2nd. It's undamaged and works fine.

Re: How long for response from ebay seller?

I had a buyer one time who did a Buy-It-Now on a Friday Night and waited till after 2 on Saturday to start calling. Left me probabaly 4 messages on Saturday and a few on Sunday all basicly asking me to call him so he could pay. Now keep in mind I work till 2 on Saturdays and have Sunday off. During my off time I don't look at work email. It's not that I don't want to be bothered with it, it's just that a lot of time I will get questions about stuff that cannot be answered without having the products right there. Now get this, this nucklehead pulled my ebay userinfo, did some searches on Google and got my home phone number and called me. I was cool to him on the phone but basicly told him what he did was a No-No and him calling over the weekend wasn't going to acomplish much since I couldn't ship anything till Monday.

what did he want to know? whether you shipped or not?
Man, less than 24 hrs? He must've really been a newbee.
Typically, I give a seller a week of time for shipping, and then a few more days if I paid for expedited, like overnight, 2 day..priority or 3 day select, etc.
I usually wait about 7-10 days before I even consider emailing even if I didn't get a tracking number.
