given the rippoff prices for new guitars in the uk, how is import tax calculated on guitars imported into the uk from the usa? i'm just trying to work out if i can get a guitar cheaper...

5% duty on instrument plus shipping, plus 17.5% VAT on that total (or the other way round!) Figure 25% on top of what you pay to the USA (or anywhere else outside the EU) and you're in the right ball park.....
I've done it alot, and it's definitely worth it on rare stuff or really good prices, but not worth the hassle for std guitars at normal pricing!Popular is not the same as good
