• bad day/apartment fire

so i got home from work this morning (i work 3rd shift), and i see smoke rolling out from the cracks in my front door frame! holy shit. once inside, it didnt take me long to realize that my heater was on fire. hooray. a quick call to the fire dept., and i was off filling hard-cases. hey, i wasnt about to be the first guy on here to post a review of how good J/C's are for kindling!
by the time the fire crew got here, i had a pretty sizable stack of SKB's and chainsaws on my balcony, which got some pretty weird looks from everyone but whatever. its not like i left a baby in there or anything. anyway, long story short, i got away with only some minor smoke damage in the areas right around the heater and everything else intact. thank god. if this would have happend tomorrow, i wouldn't have gotten off until 11. i would have lost everything! theres an upside to everything i guess! Good to hear the situation wasn't the later senario and everything came out for the most part safely.

Good to hear you and the guitars are alright. I keep a fire extinguisher in the kitchen, the master bedroom, and the garage for small fires. I just hope I never have to use them!!

i have a smoke detector. but when you're at work, its a useless peice of crap. i also have a fire extinguisher in my kitchen, but i couldnt tell where exactly the fire was coming from. lots of smoke, it was hard to tell.

I hope you have renters insurance! I'm still shocked everyday how many people don't have it.

Insurance ain't cheap. You can go 30 days without it, but not without food

Glad you're ok

Get a heater with a timer on it (if they have one) so that it cuts on and off at specific times.
