Then again...if you had cleaned it before, it might still work!

I think those things are like woks... You gotta burn a lot of stuff in it to "season" them. I think it's weird. But my wife thinks it's weird that I have a coffee pot to just warm up water for Tea and hot chocolate. (I hate coffee with a passion)

I share in your pain... my faithful 4 cup Mr. Coffee brewed it's last cup just before Thanksgiving.
I wasn't as nice too it though... I was so pissed when it finaly went that I threw it out the front door.
I must have my morning coffee!
3 days later I recieved a new arrival from my mother-in-law... A Cuisinart stainless steel 4 cup beauty.
Brews a full pot in less than 5 minutes.
Nobody talks too me until I have at least one cup in me.
You can try, but do so at your own risk.

LOL I'll do the same thing, but I don't hate coffee. I'll drink it like maybe once or twice a year, but I'll have tea or hot chocolate a lot more.

You opting for burial, or cremation?

I do the hot water pot too, for tea, instant coffee, ramen noodles, instant rice, etc.... It's really pretty versatile
and since I have only it and a microwave, necessary.

My last coffee pot, a Black & Decker, barely lasted a year.
the one before that, a $9 Procter-Silex, lasted 6 years. Oh, that pour-and-serve feature was the death of the B&D!
