• rental cars and live chickens... my work story

So i have been working at a rental car company for the last few months. We had an oriental couple come in and rent a car. They seemed like pretty nice people. Legally, unless you are the spouse or co-worker of the main authorized driver, you are not eligable to drive the vehicle without documentation, fees, and stuff. So this couple comes in and rents the car... no flags or anything yet. Well a few days later, we get a call from Michigan State Police saying the vehicle was being driven by an unauthorized driver and that they impounded the vehicle. Now this sort of thing happens sometimes. Nothing out of the ordinary right?

Enter the Chicken..

The guy is transporting live chickens in a brand new 2006 Impala. My question is, if the vehicle was impounded, what happens to the chickens? Is it even legal to transport animals in that sort of fashion if they are not your pet or something?

I thought it was worth a laugh.
I would think they would send the animals to the local humane society unless they were in cages. Not sure if you have to have a permit. Did they leave them standing at the side of the road with no car or did they get taken in too?

They would be able to pick them up after they got their mess straightened out if they impounded everything. Now my next question,
how fast does car carrying chickens have to travel to get the chickens to the humane society?

Next time, rent them bikes.

If the Impala is going forwards at a speed of 60 miles per hour. And the chickens are facing rearward and flapping their wings at 20 miles per hour, will the chickens fly backwards?
