I grew up watching his movies, watching his standup and listening to his records. This is truly a sad day indeed.
The 2nd Amendment: America's Original Homeland Defense.
I remember watching live on the sunset strip on HBO with my dad. Drove mom nuts. "when you're on FIRE, people get out of your WAY!" Poor guy has been suffering for a long time. RIP.
I sees Jamie Foxx getting an Oscar for settin' his-self on fire and calling himself Richard Pryor!
Seriously, who gonna plays the white crack ho that coked out Rich burned with cigarettes on a regular basis?
May I suggest Pink?
The guy was funny at times, did some real fucked up things, then wound up in a bad way. He's better off now. At least he's not shaking like a leaf and spaced out. RIP

Richard definitly had his problems and short comings, but who doesn't. He was one of the funniest comedians of his time, and will be missed. "What!! I'm not white?"
I was clued in to Richard early as my parents used to listen to his comedy albums when they thought I was asleep. His comedy wasn't just funny, it was ahead of its time.

Pryor lived by the sword and died by the sword. Ever heard of karma? You get back what you put out in this life.
Its well known and documented that he was a vile MF who abused drugs heavily and physically abused the white trash women and assorted druggie skank hanger ons in his life. Funny how we make "gods" out of people who pass away that were major fuck ups. You've bought into the politically correct stance of "Oh he was the greatest, etc. etc. ad naseaum." schtick.
A smartass guy who freebased coke and physically harmed others shouldn't exactly be placed on a pedestal, dead or alive. His ego was huge and out of control.
You can either get a clue or continue to feed from the giant media machine that brainwashes the masses on a routine basis.
never said he was a "saint"
from AP news:
Pryor had been suffering from multiple sclerosis, a degenerative nervous system disease, for almost 20 years.
yes he did his share of drugs and all... so i guess that gives you an "easy target" to use the "karma theory". i assume "karma" doesn't count right now, when you speak ill of him in his death.

Wow, sounds like you know him personally, or are you simply drawing generalizations and assumptions and trying to apply them to him in hopes that you sound like you know what youre talking about? Richard was a poor, uneducated guy who was thrust into the spotlight, and had his "friends" and agents push him into drugs. Is it really that different for guys like Cobain, Robbin Crosby, Jim Morrison, John Belushi, etc?. The guys did some stoopid things, and he even admitted it. If he isnt a legend, and you can say that because you are somehow better, please let us know where your band is playing tonight so we can bask in your awesomeness. Ego? No, he was the first person to deflate himself. I think its someone else in this thread that has the inflated ego.......
The view seems to be clear from the ivory tower huh? What part of the "giant media machine" did you tap into to formulate you narrow minded opinion? You can never judge a man's life unless you can walk in his shoes.
