Hell Yeah! I was going to mention Sweet, but thought I'd better check and see if anyone else mentioned them first.
I'm a huge fan and have an extensive Sweet CD collection; 20+ discs. I pulled some out the other day to listen to.
Great Glam stuff, definitely!

Wow. My Sweet collection isn't that big, probably only 10 CD's. Some rare and unreleased studio stuff too.
I do have the German import version of Give Us A Wink pressed on red vinyl..unplayed.

Thanks. I forgot about the Boston. Gotta have that first album in there, as well. I'm not as big on the Southern Rock, but a couple of Skynyrd albums are probably a good choice. I only have the "Gold & Platinum" collection from them--on vinyl!
I would say the Outlaws would be my next choice in Southern Rock.
Yeah... all the guitar-based rock/metal... I have most of the classics already.
Newc is right, Keith does not play guitar and he is NOT into guitar based music at all. He can't stand shredding or meedlee mees or even fancy schmancy acoustic, it doesn't do anything for him. He is all about the music in its entirety, if it's entertaining and sing-alongable he'll dig it. "Cartoon Rock" is what I call it. I prolly should have been more clear about that.
Instrumental guitar.. no way. He can't get into Vai or Satch. But he loves the Classical Composers (he's a Classical Concert Pianist, btw).
I LOVE Robin Trower and Hendrix, but Keith can't get into them, I dunno, he's weird. I'm into Sabbath, he isn't. I don't get that boy.
He is a HUGE AC/DC fan though... omigod. He has AC/DC everything.
Most excellent suggestions you guys! April Wine! Why didn't I think of them?! Yes. They are right up his alley. I'll look into Cult and Sweet, but if Sweet is mostly guitar he won't like them. That's okay, I can, um, borrow it.
Cheap Trick... yes. That's good.
White Snake!!! Totally.
Faster Pussycats I have never heard, I haven't! So I'll check them out too.
Deep Purple and Thin Lizzy are good too. Yessss.
The Crue... yes.
The Cars! Great idea. And I will check out Silvertide too.
Anyway... thanks to everybody, this is totally what I was looking for. Yes, I am dorky and actually wrote every suggestion down on old fashioned paper. It makes it easier for me, I can't be having all sorts of windows open at once.

keith does not have manly music tastes...
how about some celine dion?

I want REAL change. I want dead bodies littering the capitol.
No. He does not have manly music tastes, other than the AC/DC. Don't tell him I agree with you!
I never talk smack about my hubcap. Shhhh.
Celine Dion though... no. He can't stand her!
You'd have to know his background to understand why he is the way he is. Rock-n-Roll was outlawed in his house growing up. He would sneak stuff in, but it always got taken. Poor boy. Awwwww.
His horizons have expanded considerably since we've been together. I'm proud of him. He can even tolerate some hardcore metal now. Some.

Too many possibilities to list. But here's a few:
'70s-type stuff:
AC/DC--any of the Bon Scott-era stuff
Scorpions--Lovedrive
Kansas--Leftoverture
Rush--Permanent Waves
Triumph--Allied Forces
UFO--Lights Out
MSG--Assault Attack
Rainbow--Long Live Rock'n'Roll
Thin Lizzy--Jailbreak
Queen--A Night At The Opera
Doobie Brothers--Best of the Doobies
KISS--Destroyer
I can't really give much help on the '80s, since I was into heavier music than all of that glam/hair stuff.

good list
There is only one explanation. All this new stuff sucks wind. There is classic music, like 200 years ago, and there is classic rock, like 60's 70's. The 70's 80's started out very cool. And then it was downhill. The early stuff was great. Now we are in the 2000's and music is just awful.. Then again I'm 55.
This is not about nostaglia. The late 60's and 'til the early to mid '80's had it all. Those bands knew their roots. I heard the Beatles and the Yardbirds and the Kinks and all the rest. And first LedZep was the end all and be all. Ten Years After was my next favorite group. I saw Led Zep in SF for $3.00
they are my 2nd favorite, tied for 2nd with jimi, the stones rule the earth in reality. they're still rollin' motherfukka!!!!!!!!!!! that band is a steam rolling money machine, i love them.
Stones are guaranteed 5 million a night. No ifs ands or butts about it, 5 million A NIGHT. They are not worth that much.
I heard AARP are sponsoring the next tour.
The music was there long before the money. Old LP's rule from those old bands. I miss not seeing Rush and Yes in concert back in the '70's. I did see Cream. Ginger Baker had hacked his hand with an ax. He had a bigwrap bandage on it. And he still played. (I know about one-armed- what's-his-face.)
