Re: What do you know about beds?

most people spend more time in their bed than they do in their car or any other single piece of furniture in the house ...best spend a few extra benji's to make sure its comfortable

Re: What do you know about beds?

We just replaced our 10-year-old annoying bouncy POS with a king size pillow top, pocket coil Sears-o-pedic. It's fantastic. The matress is about 16" thick, and I can pretty much jump up and down on my side without waking up the queen. It certainly wasn't my idea to spend a pile of cash on a bed, but I'm, glad we did.

Though they are pretty reasonably priced, I can't recommend our Original Mattress Factory mattress. If you live in a city w/ one of these stores, you will know the name from their radio ads.

            Ah.....yeah.....right.

Come on Dave.........give us the REAL story!!!

I have a Serta Pillow Top. Great bead. About 7 years old now and still excellent. Of course I may not be a rough on it as you seem to be!

I tried a tempurpedic pillow once.

Re: What do you know about beds?

Yeah I have a tempurpedic pillow too that I got for the wife who was threatening to buy a tempurpedic mattress. Luckily for my wallet we both HATE that pillow.

Oh, and don't buy a Spring Air mattress. We bought one and the P.O.S. started sagging almost right away. Unfortunately the warranty won't cover anything until it sags 1.5 inches. I think it might be at that point now but then I need to ship the damn thing to the manufacturer at my own expense.

Re: What do you know about beds?

I second the Sears O' Pedic. I just dropped $1000 on one. Sears is running a 50% off sale right now. I tried tempurpedic, but it got too hot for me. The foam seemed to retain all my body heat. The Simmons line of beds are $$ and I didnt really see/feel much of a difference between the Sears/Sealy/Simmons mattresses. I would stay away from Serta line. Remember to actually lay on the bed for 15mins min. before you decide. It takes that long to actually adjust to the mattress. I usually do 5mins on each side and 5 on my back. The big difference between the Sealy and the
Sears line is the Sears mattress has individual pocketed coils. You can tell the difference between a mattress with individual coils and one that has the basic coil cage like the Sealy. And remember more coils = better.

Re: What do you know about beds?

Sucks, I have an very nice no-wave water bed I just LOVE. But, my woman always gets a back ache when she sleep in it though, which is understandable when going froma regular spring matress to a water bed. But, she never gets used to it, even after a month or so of sleeping in it she still gets a backache. Bah....

Bums me out that I may have to drop some big coin on something I don't actually want, like a regular bed when I love my waterbed...

Was wondering about the memory foam beds, but, they seem a bit pricey for what they are.

Re: What do you know about beds?

It's a shame you aren't in east Tennessee. There are stores here called Brothers Bedding (aka Clinton Bedding now), and their stuff easily matches a Sealy or Serta for about 30% of the price.

Back in 1997, my wife and I walked into their showroom and they had one of their mattresses next to a Sealy, both covered in transparent plastic to show the insides for comparison. We bought their stuff and it's still as good as the day we brought it home.
