I agree with the admins and everyone on the "pulling the thread" side. I don't agree with asking outright for a handout. JCF brothers helped me out in a time of need on their own accord, and for that...I was absolutely grateful.
I didn't ask for it. They just jumped in, and helped out.

But coming out and asking for it blatently is kinda wrong.
I feel for the dude and his situation. I know it all too well. But I'm not going to panhandle for a couple of bucks.
Sorry Gwar...I'm really sorry for your situation, but I can't agree with asking for donataions.

I've seen numerous threads since I joined this forum in which people asked for help. Everything from diabetics, to faulty kidneys and dependency problems. And yes, we got the mandatory "sticky" to collect for DoodleBag. By the way, I STILL HAVEN'T RECEIVED MY CD THAT WAS PROMISED WITH EACH $20 DONATION!

Were natural disasters the root of these threads? Asking for help on a message board, from total strangers, is silly. I got suckered once, not again. If you need my help, call me. What's that? You don't have my number? The End!

In an effort to increase my popularity, I pose this question:

How can you consider someone you've never met before a "brother" or even a friend, solely on the basis that they like the same guitars and amps as you, or make witty comments on a message board?

That's not to say the internet is full of criminals and liars. I would say that probably 98% of the membership here are good people. But its that 2% that make me think twice about extending too much courtesy.

I think the admins made a good call.

I also hope GWARGHOULS situation turns around.
