  • Powertab archive picked up...

Just to let you know. Powertab archive has been picked up by Ultimate Guitar website. We can all now breath easy. BTW, if this was posted earlier, I am sorry. I searched for the old link stating it was closed and got sick of waiting for the search option to come back.

Awesome. I've never heard of guitar pro tabs before. Has anyone tried the software? Is it better than Power Tabs?

imho powertab is a lot better. sure, GP has more stuff you can fiddle with, e.g. the drums, but editing powertab is a lot more intuitive to me.

                Re: Powertab archive picked up...

powertabs is free and Guitar Pro is shareware, I feel they are basically comparable, I just hated the mysongbook site it took forever to load.

I don't think they are comparable at all except for them being TAB programs. Guitar Pro is heads and tails above Power Tab. Version 5 of Guitar Pro will read power tab files.

You get what you pay for. Power Tab is free and really hasn't been updated in years.

Powertab was open sourced from what I understand. So, it will be a cinch for the other company to use their files. I will be looking for V5 of Guitar Pro. It is nice to have something that is updated. One thing that I hated about Powertab is that I couldnt output to PDF =(.
