Some forums now with all the crap that goes on have gone to pay to use classifieds access. Has the FF done that? If so then it's possible by asking the price of your bass it was construed as fishing for a sale. Was it in the TOS?


ST James it's not always about not being able to handle authority. Most people will not read the rules before entering a forum (Which are usually privately owned). We used to notify people and cut a lot more slack than we do on the newbies but it just got to be too much. The mindset then becomes if you don't have time to read the rules then I don't have time to explain why you broke them.

Don't beat me up because of the admin title, it's just an explanation

One of our members here got banned on the FDP, because a moderator there read his post on a different forum, and didnt like his view, so he banned him from the forum. I've never had a problem there, but I dont post anymore there because all I ever see in posts are people begging you to contribute casholas and asking how you could possibly feel good about posting without paying in...............

Unfortunately for most forums the Terms Of Service reads like a Microsoft EULA, and is entirely too long and quite frankly boring, so 99.99% of the people who join a forum do not read the TOS. They just look for the "Agree" link.
This of course opens one up to signing away any inalienable rights they may have, including power of attorney, property, etc etc, if a forum owner were so inclined to word a TOS that way (and thereby risk being killed in a suspicious house fire, I might add).

I understand there's all kinds of loonies out there and a TOS has to be worded a certain way with certain things spelled out in plain English (though I forsee that changing rapidly to include all known languages and Klingon because SOMEBODY is gonna get a wild hair....)

But for pity's sake: "This is a privately owned and operated board. You are not the one who owns it nor are you the one who operates it, nor are you an Administrator or other authority with respect to the board. The end." should be plenty, followed by a list of the Rules:
No nudie pics
No drug pics
No porn of any kind
No spitting, no biting, no sucking, no blowing, no screwing, no chewing, no running, no pushing, no shoving, no selling (except in the Classifieds), no huffing, no puffing, no kicking, no screaming, no flying, no driving, no swimming, no singing, no dancing, no prancing or romancing, no hiking/biking/spiking/spanking/shaving/shooting/sh*tting/shouting or other such nonsenseness.
Don't like it? Leave. Buh-Bye now.

Simple enough, and it covers everything.

Can't say it's a very informed or educated opinion, however. But then I would expect certain groups of people to actually go out of their way to deny someone the knowledge of such things, since they know it will either show up on Ebay, Craigslist, or HC for sale with a stupid-low reserve or BIN, then brag to their "bros" how they anal-raped some "idiot" and scored something for hundreds less than what it's really worth, if not more.

Well we generally allow what is it worth from established members here, but we do remove or even ban Juniors for that very reason ..it is considered fishing for a sale..

Even with rules established as black and white members coming in will always try and find shades of grey. As an Admin I can't tell you the times that even with a rule enforcement I'm told I'm not being fair. This in itself leads to us not wanting to have to give an email to a member..people get abusive and as much as we shouldn't take it personally it does F up our day at times.. People ge tthe idea we are out to get them or they are on a hated list when in fact the JCF is just a part of our Avg everyday existence. We all have jobs, family passions beyond the board so it isn't always easy to hold back emotion when someone tells you by pm your an asshole and such ..
