Re: Got a new 2006 GT Mustang....

I put a 69 boss 302 in a 61 Aston Martin DB4, initially with a top loader 4 speed, later put a BW 5 speed in it w/ od, aluminium body, stock 4-11 De dion rear end. 2200# car with 350+ ponys, the sucker was just a little tail happy under hard cornering but that was a kick ass car, the 69 mach 1 428 CJ I mentioned earlier was unreal in a straight line, these new mustangs would probably smoke both of em. with all the new hi-tech, stuff

Very sweet bro!! Is there an optional engine up from the 4.6-300 hp motor? I imagine the Challenger will offer an engine somewhere in the 400+ hp(hopefully) range. I would love to have either one, man having kids is tough Jack.

Yeah Bill, I am a die hard Cobra lover, never had an original AC aluminium bodied one, Me and my dad put a fiberglass one together, he used to tool around in it for years, pretty cool car.

I still want a slab side small block cobra with, let's say, an all aluminum small block stroker and full Weber setup. I love Cobras, but I can do without the wide body 427 look. I would also love to build an Esslinger 2.7 Stroker Lima slamming about 30 pounds of boost and drop it into a Cobra. Yeah, you just got your ass handed to you by a Cobra with a 4 banger, fucker.

I have a real soft spot for the Lima motor. They are bulletproof and can suck down boost like nothing on the planet. I have had two 2.3 Lima cars with 300RWHP. They are FUN.

            Sound like tractors though!!

Webers are great unless you can't keep em opened up. they are basically maintance free once you get em set, but get stuck in traffic and your're cleaning plugs

Bah, they just need to be setup correctly. I drove my dad's Ferrari plenty of times in traffic and never fouled the plugs. NOTHING sounds like Webers...NOTHING.

Mike, Fusion Farmer and all you Motorheads are cwazy..

                  I can't turn a freakin screw myself..My Cobra was just built last Summer...Yellow w/ Black Stripes....what I like is that it's so bare bones simple..just a stock 5.0...w 3:55 gears.

John can do anything on this thing...he is a Guru of the 302..and there so much you can do with a 302..and being that it's a 2000 lb vehicle..hell, I could get insane as I want..it's already fast ..I'm still getting used to it...you can get in trouble with it really quick..almost did a couple times already..

I never had a car that makes you instantly laugh..it really throws you back..TOTAL FUN!!

I can't waite 'till Summer..I never gave a crap about Summer really until last year..and I always had a pretty nice Vette...now it's my dad's again...it's been in the fam for about 20 years now...but he still wants to barrow the Cobra tho sometimes..I'm nice, so I let him.

I was really never too much of a Mustang guy really...I do like the new retro styling now..very sharp..The new Challengers too..!!

I'm still a sucker for a nice new Vette tho..I like the C6...but buying a new production car just depreciates too much I think..like my old Vette...that's the only thing that sucks.

That's why I went with the Cobra Rep instead of something like a C6..because it'll always be worth X amount of money..I'll never lose on it really...the Cobra was always a dream toy for me..So I'll never have to buy another one.

you motorheads could put one of these Facory 5 roadsters together easy..all factory made parts..like putting together a big model.!!!

They only made about 500 real ones..I saw ONE real once..it actually looked kinda crappy..all dented and hammered aluminum..but it's sure worth a shitload...The new replicas are actaully much "prettier" because everything is new with all the authentic details..

I wish I could post some pics..I'm really proud of it!

that's the deal with my Toy..weight to power ratio..

The Factory 5 Cobra weighs 2,065 lbs..about half the weight of a stock mustang..with the same drive train.

Take a Mustang cut it in half..and that's about where I'm at...and you could drop just about any motor in this thing..I know a dude who bought a 14K brand new purple Viper motor and put that in his Factory 5...WOW.

Mine is in the 12's in a 1/4..with a bone stock 225hp output 5.0..0-60 in 3.5..I could get as silly as I want too with this thing...and I will kill myself..like James Fuggin' Dean....COOL!

[/ QUOTE ] Factory Five rocks! I was thinking of building one. The Type 65 Coupe looks awesome! Did you bulid the kit yourself Bill?

The beauty of the factory 5 is that it uses all the fox body stuff. It would be a fun build. I wish they made a slab side body for them....of course, the Daytona coupe is THE one to build. I am not a convertible nut.

The small block Ford is probably the easiest little engine in the world to work on and build. They really are wonderful and respond so well to just about anything.

Just slap that Vortech on it Bill, you won't regret that.

100hp Shot of bottle, and he'd have a warm wet shot in his pants when the ass end of that thing was suddenly pointed the other direction.

That car is way loose on it's own when launching hard... He'd wrap it up with some nitrous.
