The problem with the Colts' offense is that it is based on precision and timing. Throw that timing off and this is what happens.

BTW, Cowher almost gave that game away by exclusively using the running game in the 4th Qtr. The Steelers sure are exciting, but I am going to have a heart attack watching them one of these Sundays.

as far as being a great QB and not winning a Super Bowl, look at Marino. at least he got to a Super Bowl, Manning has not capitalized 6 straight times in the playoffs. that's amazing. 6 times in a row, out in the early rounds.

it's like in golf, best player yet to win a Major. best QB yet to win a Super Bowl?

I really get fired up about stuff like this,remember the Steelers were the victims of 5-6 mistakes by officials a few years ago,most notably the coin toss in the Thanksgiving Day game against Detroit. Jerome called tails,the ref said he called heads,and gave the ball to the Lions,who naturally scored,and our season went to shit. Tommy D.

Peyton Manning is one hell of a quaterback and I don't think he will ever get a ring. Jesus they didn't even have to face the Pats and they stumble.

Steeler fan here but to the OP I gotta say. What crack are you smoking? Numbers don't lie and any QB no matter how good he is sucks if he's getting hands in his face every down. Manning is a heck of a QB. As for his comments after the game? He said they had pass protection problems. He didn't call out his oline, he was talking about the scheme in general. And I'd bet you would say much worse if you had to give a press conference right after losing like that at home. They should make those goddamn reports wait a day till they talk to players that way shit like what Manning said and stuff like what Joey Porter said, wouldn't be said. Well maybe with Porter it wouldn't make a difference cause he has a big mouth. You can bet your ass Manning probably feels like shit for even saying anything at all. Usually he probably would never have said such a thing but he's only human, and they got their asses handed to them by a better (and underated) team at their home turf. That shit hurts.

Well, I guess it's how you interpret. Saying he wants to be a good teammate yet blames his woes on protection, is clearly a sign of calling your lineman out. A lot of people seem to believe that;

Maybe he should've waited a day before opening his mouth, but he didn't, so he let the cat out of the bag.

As for his ability, I still don't believe he's the QB everyone makes him out to be. I believe its his front line, along with his receivers, Hell, I could put Christopher Reeves back there with that line and he'd do good. There are QB's that can manuever and act under pressure...Peyton isn't one of them.

Two things you seem to be not taking into account about Manning. He basically calls his own offense and secondly he's extremely accurate. Those are two things alot of QB's don't have and very few call their own offense to the extent that Manning does. He's not a mobile QB, but he doesn't need to be (usually) with his offensive line.

OK, first off Manning is a very good QB. No doubt about it. Unfortunately for Indy and Dungy, he's not a QB that can take a team on his shoulders and deliver. He needs protection, he needs a running game, he needs great receivers.

While this is true of just about every QB, there are the rare few that can be play-makers even when their lines are suspect and their running game is not so hot.

As far as his comments go? Completely unacceptable. People may say that it's because of the emotion of the game he just lost. How many QBs lose playoff games? At least one a game, and not all of them make these kind of comments. He should know that the standard response should be, "I didn't do what it took to win," when all of America knows he was being mugged on every play.

I'm not a big football fan, and I usually only watch playoff games. I've noticed one thing though, this year, the NFL REALLY doesn't want Pittsburgh to win. After the last game, hell, some of those calls were just retarded.

I don't think I have enough right to talk sports with anyone, since I'm particularly uneducated, however, I'm a PA guy, and I like the Steelers. I'm not a big football fan, but it just seems, as far as teams go, the Steelers are classy as a whole, and are a great team.

+1 add the fact that the coaches son committed suicide. They were not a focused team, and that was apparent durign the first half of that game.
