Can any of you computer gurus help me out with a problem. I have a laptop that keeps popping up a Symantec message showing a virus. This virus seems to be an old virus (2003), but damn if I can't get rid of it. The name of the virus is Backdoor.IRC. I've tried using Symantec, Spybot, Adaware, Microsoft Anti-Spyware and I still can't get rid of it.
A Symantec window keeps popping up saying;
Symantec Anti-Virus Notification
Scan type: realtime protection scan
Virus name: BACKDOOR.IRC.BOT
File: C:\WINNT|SYSTEM32\.exe
Location: C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32
Computer: XXXX
User: System
Action taken: Clean Failed; Quarantine failed; Access denied
Date: 17 Jan 2006
This is slightly pissing me off. I've looked on line at the type of virus it is, but nothing seems to clean it. Some of the programs I run, show it as being virus free, but this window keeps popping up.
I have updated all the virus protection programs that I've mentioned to the latest update.
Any suggestions?
Thanks
