The Stones are so fucking good it's sickening. They have a lot more than just a few good tunes. C'mon.

Yeah, really...come on guys!!

Just to name a few, popular Stones songs that kill:

Beast of Burden
Waiting on a Friend
When the Whip Comes Down

Jumpin' Jack Flash
Brown Sugar
Angie
Sympathy for the Devil
Honkey Tonk Women
Give me Shelter

I mean, really!!

Sleep. The sound doesn't collapse to riffs of early eyes either.

And, the Stones are still out there making music. The Beatles made music for 7 years. Granted, some killer stuff, but the Stones are still kicking it out.

I can appreciate what the Stones have done and what an icon Keef is, but I like the Beatles' tunes more and I think the Beatles have had more of an impact on music in general.

I'm not down on the Stones, I just prefer the Beatles.

The opening riff to "Can't You Hear Me Knockin'" has to be one of the coolest riffs ever written. But I still prefer the Beatles.

Re: who\'s your preference...

I was there when they both came up in the 60's. The Beatles revolutionized what we listened to. I can remember hearing the Beatles for the first time. It was amazing. However, I like the early Stones better. Tough call, but the Beatles really did change the scene.

Re: who\'s your preference...

Absolutely, the beatles were first and set the standard, actually, nobody really met that standard. But the Stones were like the evil catholic girl attacking, drug infested buzzards that i tried my best to model myself after.
I have a book on their drug busts, it's so thick it'll make
your head spin. Some great reading in there.

The Stones made 50's black music 60's white music. The Beatles made new music after their first few covers of 50's black music. The Stones made old music new. The Beatles made "New" music. And what's his face, the producer, started the whole thing. You know who I'm talking about. I'm on the "I don't care for either bus.." but having to choose, I went with the Stones. Bad boys of rock, and still going strong.

Re: who\'s your preference...

Gotta go Beatles here. I just prefer the songs overall. During the era between Rubber Soul and Sgt. Pepper (1965-1967) they created some of my favorite music ever. Period. Total innovators. I never get tired if any of the Beatles material, and it's pretty impressive to see how much they evolved (and improved) over that short 10 year career. The early stuff seems pretty 'bubble gum' now, but it wasn't back in it's day. And the later material... incredible creativity! Not to take anything away from Mick and the boys, but I don't think they quite measure up. "Can you hear me knockin" is a favorite though...

earlier Stones were cooler, but later Beatles were much better. I can take or leave the Stones - I still love that later period Beatles stuff. Brilliant!
