  • Proof of Cookie Cutter songwriting

This is slightly interesting, due to the song structure. This requires stereo sound on your PC.
It's 2 Nickelback songs, one in the left channel, one in the right channel. ("Someday" and "How You remind me")
See how well they mesh together...Man, they will be out of ideas in no time...hopefully.

Amazing. I have heard this before...but it is still amazing. All the breaks in the same place. Almost interchangeable songs.

Of course, I wish I could have written them, and been paid for them!!!

Sleep. The sound doesn't collapse to riffs of early eyes either.

The cover band I play bass for (I don't get to pick the tunes...) plays a couple of their tunes. Man I hate playing them.

Somebody on the John Petrucci Forum did those a while back... He did a whole series of them I think. Still funny as heck though.

One would be enough. I would keep getting them confused. Even the ones they have been playing on the radio lately fit the same mold. Same 4 cord progressions. Same Angry Vocal Line, then softer one, then the angry one, then the softer one.

                      That's so weak.

And what a funny coincidence, too... I'm driving my wife's car this week, as she's out of town. She's got both Nickleback CD's in her changer, so I've had the pleasure (groan) of listening to them for days now.

And all week I've been thinking to myself "dude's got a cool voice, they aren't bad musicians, but the songwriting is weak & formulaic - it all sounds the same. Every song." How weak. They could probably be a cool band if they just stretched out a bit with the songwriting.

They are good players and have a very good sound and production but sadly most of their songs sound the same. They need to hire Desmond Child

Not sure how I ever noticed this, but Bon Jovi's "Living on a Prayer" has the exact background melody as Belinda Carlisle's "Heavan on Earth". I'm sure I'll regret this post in the near future.

IIRC Bon Jovi wrote "Heaven on Earth"

Actually, I read somewhere that Bon Jovi sued her for infringement and it was settled out of court. I'll try and find a link or something.
