It would be great if the dude also posted a pic of the shipping box and packing slip.
Just a guitar player...

I really don't think this is a scam, but that soesn't ease my mind. I'm still weary as to wether or not I'll get anything.

Also, I just used my Gift Cert. I ordered a Jackset the came to just under $100.

I followed the directions that they gave me, select check as a method of payment. Then I was supposed to enter my cert number in the comments section. THERE WAS NO COMMENTS SECTION. I entered it in the Gift cert number field (they never mentioned this field.)

I doubt I'll see that Jacket. I don't think it;s a scam. It's just a bad gift certificate setup.

We'll see. I'll remain cautiously optimistic.

Jim, I received my Diecast Sawblade and $100 GC back around Christmas time. On January 6, I sent the GC in for 4 BLS shirts and a coffee mug, plus a money order for $20-something that exceeded the GC amount (I sent it Certified mail so I knew when they received it). I got two shirts about a week or so ago, then I received the other two shirts the following day. I'm still waiting on the coffee mug and just the Sawblade guitar. Their site does say you must wait about 6 to 8 weeks for delivery, which I found to be about right. I think they've just had so many orders that they're trying to catch up and do what they can, most likely get the stuff out by the order in which they were put in (a hell of a lot of people placed orders). Just be patient, I'm sure you'll get your merchandise.

And the guitars are supposed to ship this month; though, they didn't say when exactly. I suppose probably closer to the end of the month, but I guess it's a good sign if somebody got one already.

Oh yeah, Chad said yesterday that they can handle shipping 150 orders out a day. And, I think they're in the 6000's for orders now. So, it will take some time.

I just sent an email to Chad and he responded in minutes! Here was his response....

"The diecasts are shipping now and guitars ship end of March".

I feel much better now. I was suprised that he responded so fast. If they planned on not fufilling these orders, why would he even bother responding!?

I'm back on the optimistic side.

John, I'll bring it practice when it shows up. That is if I ever make it out of having pneumonia alive!

I don't think this tidbit of info. has been posted here before, so I'll post it to set your minds at ease.
I read from Chad that 357 could have spent $200,000 on an ad in Rolling Stone or do the promos with the Epi's. They chose to spend their ad money on Zakk's fans instead of printing an ad in Rolling Stone.
Sambencuda, does that make you feel any better?
Oh yeah, look at the mp4 players. They also say "in stock" but also say they ship in 6-8 weeks. Nothing makes sense with this company, but it's no scam.

[/ QUOTE ]

So... what you are saying is that Chad had a chance to spend 200K on an ad in Rolling Stone that would have reached a million or so of their suscribers and readers (or how many they have) but instead he chose to use a newly formed website to advertise relying on word of mouth from message boards? Whats Gibson's position on this? I'll tell you what it is. They are staying away. Where are the ads in Guitar Player and the other guitar trade mags? Where is the cross promotion from Gibson or Zack Wylde himself? I am sure Gibson would have offered some co-op advertising dollars for such a massive promotion.
This isn't the way it works bro's.
The advertising 357 is getting with this method is NOTHING compared to what a $200,000 ad would give them in Rolling Stone. For $200,000 they would either get a 1/2 to full page for most likely a year of publication. Advertising in magazines is expensive but its not nearly as much as prime time commercial airtime.

I see your point John, but that aside, I just don't get the feeling this is a scam. When you get scammed, the scammer is gone once they have your money and you get dick. A lot of guys got thier dicast, we all go the gift certs (and some have used them).

Why would this guy even respond if he already got my money and never intended to fufill the obligation. Wouldn't he just vanish?

According to him, the guitars will ship the end of March. I'll be patient and wait.

I do see your point though, but I gotta stay optimistic.

And there you have it. Cross-Promotion. That looks encouraging for sure Joe.
Is Gibson/Epiphone doing anything?

I don't think Gibson is, but Epiphone did have the opposite thing not too long ago... they were offering free diecast choppers with purchase of a ZW Epiphone.

Actually they did! Ephiphone was giving away the 357 Zakk diecasts with a purchase of one of his Les Paul's. It was posted on the Epiphone website, although it has expired.

Update: I came home from the store today and found a brown box on my porch. It had 2 more diecasts inside. So, I got my 3 diecasts. Now all I need is my mp4 player and 3 guitars. That would be sweet!!!! I think if it were a scam then we wouldnt have gotten anything. And arent these epis disco'd? Maybe thats how they got such a good deal on them. Maybe Epi had a buttload of them left over and 357 got a great deal. Who knows?

I think it's pretty clear that the way this company is handling this promotion is designed to maximize their cashflow up front, probably to make a certain revenue number in the current quarter, or something like that. they are playing accounting games by booking revenue now, and incurring the liability of shipping promotional or purchased products much later.

this is not illegal, and it is not unethical, because they disclosed up front when they'd ship the stuff.

still, it sounded sketchy enough for me to decline to participate, mainly because I don't really want an Epiphone guitar to begin with.
the guitar players look damaged - they've been outcasts all their lives

Lots of good points are being made. We should also consider that 357 is not a shipping company. They make motorcycles. Chances are good they didn't anticipate the amount of work this type of offer would take. Plus, they moved in the middle of this whole thing. So that probably added more complexity to the deal. All we can do is wait now...

I might be interested in a Buzzsaw. I'd be willing to pay $200 for it.
