Chad, I've been behind this awesome deal the whole time up until your announcement about the pickups today. As a guitar player for about 20 years now, I understand how guitar companies and factories run things. Each guitar, after completion, goes through a quality control process where voltage readers measure output from pickups and another step where in some factories an actual person will tune the guitar up and play it through an amp as a final check. Now, how in the world do you expect someone like me to believe that thousands of guitars somehow got through quality control with defective pickups?
Come on, please make me a believe again.
    Thanks!
    Brian

Epiphone guitars don't hit quality control until they get to Nashville. They came out of the shipping containers NON WORKING.

I'm not buying that. They are set up in the US, or so they say. But he wants us to believe Epiphone guitars aren't even tuned or checked before they ship from Korea?

        • He mentioned in his letter that he didn't want to let the info out until it was ok'd by Epi and EMG. Wow... you mean to tell me that Epi and EMG heard of the MASSIVE screw up and told Chad that its cool for him to post about it online?? It sounds to me like Chad just threw Epi and EMG under the bus to cover his own ass.

          • Wouldn't EMG test before shipping out their pickups too? Are they saying the pickups themselves are bad or all of the guitars wired incorrectly?

            • Why don't some of you guys call Chad and tell him that you still want your guitar even with the non-working pickups since he must have at least 10,000 of them at 357 customs or at least at the Epi distribution center in Nashville. You guys were going to swap them out anyway. I bet he will have an excuse for that too.

I would also call Epiphone and EMG direct and ask them how they can allow such a thing to happen. This would make me worry about anything that has the Epiphone name on it.
If the pickups are defective that is really going to put a dark cloud over EMG.
This is HUGE news. Just HUGE.
I like using the word HUGE in capital letters. It looks so dramatic.

              • It just sounds like old Chad is buying himself some time. The big question is, why?

                • This just keeps getting better and worser at the same time. I read that the promo was to "Buy" the guitar and get the diecast. Somehow it got turned around. Aw, who needs working pickups anyhow?

                  • I've just written Gibson's general counsel on letterhead to ask whether they will confirm or deny that thousands of Epiphone guitars have arrived in the US in nonworking condition.

Of course if I hear anything, I'll let you know...

                      • I also don't believe for a second that all those guitars arrived with non-functional pickups. It sounds like total bullshit to me, and I'm starting to feel very happy that I didn't get in on this deal. I feel bad for all of you who did. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is, and I believe we are going to see more proof of this wise saying.

So how many people are going to take a shit in a box and mail it to Chad?

                          • I am fucking boiling here How the fuck does this Chad dude expect to get away with this? EMG and EPI might want to kill him, along with us buyers and possibly Zakk Wylde. Something smells fishy. Jack.
