I always thought Images and Words was their best album by far.

I bought Awake after that, hoping for a continuation of IAW, and was really disappointed with the lack of melody on that album and all the random noodling. this band is best when they have a song structure to rip it up in.

now the best Dream Theater albums are "Image And Words" "Awake" and "Train Of Thought" IMO. The other albums have some good and some bad moments except Octavarium wich sucks monkey weenie.

nope [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img] I named only one wich can described as prog metal - "Operation Mindcrime" wich is better than "Image And Words" because Queensryche guys wrote that album, DT guys borrowed all the riffs and licks from the others including Queensryche [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]
