Has nothing to do with me being a humorless Dream Theater fan either.

Oh come on, I'm a big DT fan but how often have you thought about what the fuck poor James is thinking during the 5 minutes solo breaks during every song. He sits there and plays the tambourine for god's sake!
Not to mention that James doesn't have the pipes that he used to.
Perhaps my sense of humor is restricted to dick and fart jokes, but I didn't really find it all that funny either. I understood it, just didn't laugh at it.
its sorta funny, you have to be a JB hater I guess to find it really really funny
I'd take james labrie as a vocalis, one who actually knows something about music, ya know notes, harmony, melody and shit over any cookie monster screamer any day of the week
I personally found James stepping off stage and coming back on with a cup of coffee at one of the shows I attended, way more funny.
And btw JB's voice is definitly back, holy crap the man can sing again! Blew me the hell away! Hit every friggin' note.
I don't know why people love to hate LaBrie. He does a great job, just unfortunately a singer's instrument will not always be "on". Can't just change the strings and adjust the truss rod, you know. It's tough to be a singer whose band takes extended instrumental sections on most songs, too. Unless you're Steve Walsh and can jump on your keyboards in the interludes, there's only so much you can do onstage when you don't sing for another 5 minutes.
There is always someone you can point out thinking they'd be better, but get them in there and it might not turn out.
Hell, on paper Gary Cherone was a great choice for VH, but look what a disaster that was! LaBrie has stood the test of time, about 15 years now isn't it?
James LaBrie kicks ass... still not as much as Ray Alder from Fates Warning, but he's still pretty kick-ass!
I feel my soul go cold... only the dead are smiling.
They should get LaBrie a set of congas or something. That's what Ian Gillan always goes to during the extended solo stuff in Deep Purple sets.
LaBrie's singing has gotten better on the last couple of albums and tours I've seen because he's not singing at the upper 1% of his range all the time like he used to.
