Band Audition #4

I finally found some guys I click with. They wanted me to join the band last night. I'm about as far from an ego- manic guitarist as you can get but these guys were giving me all kinds of compliments. So, I had to wake my wife up last night at midnight to tell her all about it. You can imagine her excitment [img]/images/graemlins/sleep.gif[/img]. It really meant a lot to me considering I haven't played out with a band for about ten years and these guys have been doing it for a long time. They have a gig booked for next month and want me to play. I politely said "are you f-ing crazy?" Anyway, I think this might be a cool thing. We'll see.

Congrats! Go for it dude, a month is plenty of time to get ready. I had my first practice with a new band last night and we're playing in one week. If everyone does their homework there is no reason you can't be tight.

i trained a new bassist in 7 days for a show once. it was a 90 minute set of all original music too. talk about stress!! our bassist at the time wussed out and it was a headline show so we didn't want to cancel it.

a month is plenty of time as long as you get yourself into the grind. congrats on the gig!!!!

I recently joined a band myself, and at rehearsals, the other guys keep on telling me to turn UP, which is probably the best compliment of all [img]/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img]

Fuck yeah dude, go for it! I was in a band like that. A worshipping band is nice, especially when they all have contacts for gigs. It allowed me to kick back and let everyone else do the work, while I just learned the songs and winged a solo here and there. The audience will worship you too if you're that much better than everyone else.

Not egotistical either, except when I have a guitar in my hands. Oh yeah, egofuckin'maniac.

MikeStrat, congrats dude! You can handle the pace if you have a month. Hell, I've learned 30 songs in 3 days for a gig, it can be hectic but you'd be surprised how much you can do when you need to. And enjoy the enthusiastic reception, but keep your head on straight too. You'll be loved by themn even more if you stay modest. You can be confident without boasting, it makes you look that much better. Have fun and kick ass!

well done mate,also ROFLMFAO at your wifes excitment at being told your good news!Always pays to be humble as there are too many egofuckingmaniacs around who's over inflated opinions on there playing always deflates when the cream rises to the topJump in the waters mate and enjoy playing with bands again at high VOLUMES!!!Your wife might take an interest in it when she sees the bands groupies
