Ok guys i know shit loaads of you here have been gigging all the time so your expertise in this subject will be great.
what do you use to protect your hearing?what is the best ear protecters/plugs i should use that cut out the damaging Freq and still allow me to talk to band mates [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

The best plugs will be from an audiologist... Not the cheapest way by far, but the best way indeed. [img]/images/graemlins/wink.gif[/img]

I use the soft squeezable ones.
Squeeze and put it in the ear and it expands back, great stuff and good protection. I use them when shooting, concerts, gigging and etc.

cheers lads yeahh at the moment i am using squeezable ones too that i was given from a mate who uses heavy machinery at work-realy works great but i have trouble hearing people talking,i was wondering if there were special ones for music?

if you pay a couple hundred quid you can get pro ear plugs that are designed to take the desibel level down but still keep the full frequency range...I think those are the best way to go for musicians!

I use the Sonic II earplugs that are available at music or sporting goods stores. They are baffled so you can still hear. High frequencies are pretty attenuated though, but I get my sound as I like it and then put them in. I've been using them for 30 years and so far, so good.

Sounds perfect to me,mind you if someone was shooting the band members with a shotgun and left me to last i wouldnt hear it

I'm sure there is better stuff out there now,
but the Sonics are pretty cheap and do a good job. If you have hundreds to spare you could check out the ones Rune mentioned. But for 10-$15, whatever they are these days, they work well, and if you lose 'em you don't have to take out a loan to get another pair!

yeahh mate i agree,i have some industrial ones i use at the moment that are good but hinder talking,and i always lose them so spending a lot on them is out the question

I'm picking up my new earplugs Friday. They're called Rock Star's and are specifically designed for each person. Six filters, but I needed it. Cost me about $120.00. I wanta try and save what I got left. My ears are still ringing from my gig last night as I'm typing this. Got another one tonight, and more down the road, so I need to get something good.
