Re: Prince on SNL
I saw that last night, (the first song anyway) and thought it was pretty good. He is an excellent player.
And after it was over, he took everyone back in the house and made them pancakes.

Re: Prince on SNL
Yeah, my wife is a big Prince fan. After he played last night she was like, " See, you like Prince too, c'mon I know you liked that." He was good. But of course, I was searching the backround for someone else playing the whole time.

Re: Prince on SNL
To be be a great musician is one thing. To be a great writer (person that appeals to the masses with his material) is another. And to be a marketing whiz, is still yet another. And Prince is all of that.
Gotta hand it to him. Although I would never actually buy any or listen to much more than a bit his material, I can appreciate that he is pretty amazing.

Re: Prince on SNL
'm suprised no one has mentioned "Let's Get Crazy" yet...He tears it up at the end of that one....First time I saw it I crapped myself....No,I don't appreciate the vast majority of his material, but I do admire his talent...From a distance,anyway....Bon Jovi is like a frozen Coca Cola.. It's cool, it's crunchy, but when all is said and done it is still pop....

Re: Prince on SNL
Prince's performance (the first song) last night was, in my humble opinion, one of the best musical performances on SNL so far! He fukkin' ROCKS... always has.
I just hope he's playing more stuff like that on the new album. I plan on buying that and the new David Gilmour that's coming out March 7th.
My $.02

+ a million!
i started playin lead when purple rain came out, and i always loved that song and many others of his. a quote i remember enjoying was something that one of his band members when he was doing the new power generation once said something to the extent of "you always have to be on your toes because if you don't play your part of the song well enough, prince will play it for you."
he's kinda hot and cold with me, but i think he's a fuckin genius on many levels. and man, that was a cool lookin strat. i was hoping that he'd bust in on the "prince show" skit. i love that skit.

Re: Prince on SNL
Yeah Prince is so freaking talented. I love his guitar playing in "The Morning Papers". The only thing Prince failed at was his little rap stint although the line
"What you wanna eat girl"
"Ribs!!!!"
"I don't serve ribs"
cracks me up everytime. YEah Prince is talented and great to see live also.I keep the bible in a pool of blood
So that none of its lies can affect me

thanks for the link!
I saw it on snl and I'm happy I can see it again.
prince reminds me so much of hendrix in that song. playing, singing even the song's chord progression sounds like a hendrix song.
