need help with graphic/teeshirt/sticker/cd design

I've done alot of graphic design before on web pages and stuff, but I've recently taken on the task of designing graphics for my band to do tee shirts, stickers, cd artwork, ect but I'm having problems.


most places that do stickers and tees and CD inserts and stuff want you send them the graphic file or a disk with the graphic file on it.

They want a resolution between 300 and 600 dpi.

but my font sizes only go up to 72 and when I try to write on a pallet thats 1400 by 1400 pixels with a 300 DPI, my font is friggin tiny... I can't just hit resize on it because it gets deformed when you stretch it out.


How do I make it work?

Do you have Illustrator or another vector graphic application. Create your type in that and import it into Photoshop. I am guessing your using Photoshop.

I'm using photoshop, but don't have any vector application.

I'm tempted to go the road of warez to try and get illistrator... but I don't even know how to use it. I have no experience with it.

There are other applications and I wouldn't encourage pirating of software. You may be able to find a freeware application somewhere that will at least let you create an .eps file that you could use.

What app are you using?

I do a ton of work in Macromedia Fireworks, and it does a great job for designing print logos as well as web work.

You may want to try using a "scale" tool to make the fonts bigger, or see if it will let you type a font value in directly, instead of using a control interface to set the size.

And yes, something that lets you work with vector graphics is the way to go.

You could type what you need in a wordprocessor in whatever size font you need, then use the Print Screen Button and paste it into the program you're using then cut out the picture of the word processor.

Problem is that when you stretch it, it distorts to hell and back, so that wouldn't work. Nice idea though.

Is there no freeware vector program?

your fonts only go up to 72 in photoshop?...no way dude...try typing in a number in the font box instead of using their preset numbers...lol...d.m.
