Re: OK, let\'s hear it... V-Day confessional

Did the dozen roses thing and got Chinese take out for my wife and daughter. My mother-in-law stopped by and she had dinner with us... yes, I actualy like my mother-in-law.
Not that way either... just had to divert that one before some of you perverts got the wrong idea.
Had a nice email chat with John from JCMI as well. Talk about customer service... the guy is responding to emails at 10:00 PM on Valentines day.
Don't know which is more disturbing... me sending them or him responding.

Men! Only the male of the species could turn a nice Valentine's thread into this. When women discuss Valentine's gifts, we just try to out do our significant other's kindness and thoughtfulness.

And the jokes on the food are very poor taste - his food is amazing and should be respected!

And personally, I think it sounds like you guys did good for your special someones!

Before anyone says anything, I did not put her up to this. I don't need my wife to come to my defense, especially when I'm the one who got myself into it.

Bought my girl some roses, took her out to dinner, then back to my place.

And hey, it happens quite often. With friends, I would have no problem with it, as a matter of fact I'm used to taking guff over stuff like this. I have a problem of sometimes not thinking before speaking.

Welp, got some chocolates, balloons and stuffed animal for my little angel Halle who's 5, my Wife got my 2 boys 11 & 8 some chocolates and cards. Then I gave my Wife some roses, chocolates, Gift Certificate for her favorite Nail Salon for 2 Manicures & 2 Pedicures and a blank card where I wrote a poem for her stating exactly what I meant to say to her rather than some canned "I'm like shit without you !" card. This was topped off with Chinese food delivered for the Family eaten by the fireplace. Worked out nicely ! Then I got a call from Mark (mm2002) ! Always a pleasure to talk to that guy !! Quality gentleman there !!

I did.

Thinking about this on the way home from work I guess my issue is one of displaced anger. The ball-busting in this thread is inoccuous. Nothing that I should take offense to. As I said, I get my balls busted like this all the time from friends as I tend to speak before I think.

So, why this thread? I'm not totally sure. Something snapped or tweaked or whatever. It brought back to the fold a lot of the negative things you've posted in public. (and I'm sure there's a lot more in private that hasn't been forwarded to me) Maybe it's a feeling of propriety, I can take it if my friends bust my balls... but you... you're not a friend, you've gone out of your way to make that point several times.

I admit wholeheartedly that I can be paranoid or overtly cautious to others intentions, especially if they have been identified as something other than a friend. And I know for damn sure that I can carry a grudge like nobody's business. All of that combined makes me snap at the right people at the wrong time.

I still stand by the meaning of what I said. I should have just let this all slide off my back. So to everyone, I apologize for the drama. The intent of this thread is to post what we did, if anything, for our significant others for Valentines Day.

I bought the Mrs. A Valentines day basket with a Bear, A Silk rose, and a heart shaped box of candies. I got a jar of nuts (cashews). Somehow this year She got the better deal, LOL.

PM Bill, I am sure he can share some of his weed. Relax, dude...it was ALL a joke.

BTW, the cream sauce sounds like a nice variation on Alfredo. Maybe I will give that recipe a shot. Funny, I chose law school over chef school.

It was actually a variation of a port wine/mushroom sauce that I got off the interweb. I just replaced the port with chicken stock.

Yeah, I chose electrical engineering and computers over culinary scool myself. (wish I had followed through with it sometimes) My dad and I would argue who had the best spaghetti gravy.
