Me and Mrs Z don't do Valentines day..Sweetest Day..yada yada..

No need for a calander to dictate when to show appreciation for each other..I love and respect her 24/7/365 for the last 20 years..and I would marry her again 20 years from now.

I find it weird that most people feel obligated, even IF in a crappy relationship to do these silly "traditions"..

My mom got a dozen roses and a dinner..but I really think she would prefer much less adultry from my dad..a little denial and a guilt bouquet goes a long way I guess.. [img]/images/graemlins/tongue.gif[/img]

My ..bro-in-law (Mr.Limpdick) bought my sister a $400 ring and dinner..but he hasn't worked in over two years and they are broke..they key word is.."he" bought it..he's really generous when it comes to her money..WTF??!! Man, I worship "The sauce"..

Every Sunday is sauce day...it takes about 6 hours to cook the sauce..sausage and meatballs..sometimes she'll put in the veal.. [img]/images/graemlins/drool2.gif[/img]

Besides the meat..the rest is ALL from scratch...and she will NOT give the recipe to anyone (not even our own mothers)..many have tried..no way! [img]/images/graemlins/nono.gif[/img]

My wife RULES in every possible way..she is the most beautiful, and loving, supportive, protective woman and mother I have ever met or known.

Basically, it just depends on MY mood on a day to day basis..I got "issues"..that's no secret...but my issues are my own..I don't make them hers..NEVER! [img]/images/graemlins/refuse.gif[/img]

Unfortunately, most humans don't have that luxury..My rule of thumb is..if I don't know you..I don't like you..until some "self-worth" and "trust" has been established...and that's not easy with me...no way!

I been offered cooch from these young girls that guys just trip over there tongues for..I must admit..yeah they are pretty..but that desire never outweighed my respect or desire for Val.

I learned one thing in my 41 years Jimmy..Pretty Girls don't like to be refused or rejected, they are NOT used to that..and the more you say "no thank you"..the more aggressive they get..I had them just come out and ask to me bop 'em ..with my wife in the same room or right there..yeesh! When it comes to relationships..I'm pretty old school really...I believe in the vows of marriage...both our families are from the old country..I guess maybe that may have something to do with it....we didn't move in together until the night of our wedding into our new home that we bought.

My dad sure isn't he had me when he was 18 and my mom was 16..he's been cheatin' on her since..but they are still together and happy for the most part..My dad was just honest with my mom and said.."hey, this is what I do"..

I will preface this with my wife is usually cool, usually.
She started a new job and is working 4 days instead of 2 and couple that with a 5 year old and a 10 month old and I guess she is a little stressed.
V-Day after 17 years together consists of cards and a nice meal. Not this year, it was leftovers (not my idea) and us fighting over how much the band will be gigging. Great way to spend a bull#*#* "holiday".

The bottomline is that both of you love and respect each other....that's it.

you'll have time together eventually..it's hard with two working people with kids..

yeah, I think it's a BS holiday..so does my wife..alot of people like my mom and dad still follow "traditions" like this..well that's their relationship..that's their biz..

I must say..me and Val have a much stronger bond than they do..or anyone else we personally know for that matter..who always go through the motions..that's for sure.

I find it somewhat contrived and well sometimes just hypocritical..and sometimes just plain silly..

Hey a Bad relationship isn't gonna change with a bouquet, a card and a box of Russel Stovers creme filled crap..

Nothing wrong with showing your affection ..but does it have to be on exactly Feb 14th at exactly 2:30PM..I don't think so.

My girlfriend is 100% Italian, both Neopolitan and Sicilian. She can make several versions of pasta that will make you cry, all within 20 minutes. I have never tasted such good sauces that took so little time. They are usually raw sauces, because she doesn't really believe in canned tomatoes too much.

Me, I can make monster red sauce...but it is an all day affair...kind of like when I make Gumbo.

I took her out for dinner at a fancy place in the North End here that was the most expensive and tasty meal ever. I didn't do any gifts though, dinner was $200 by itself

My fiance opened up her new salon a few days before, so I sent her a bunch of roses. The day of, I sent her a long text message that she really liked. We both had to work during the day, so we spent the evening together. I got her some more roses, a nice bottle of wine, and a heart shaped pizza from a local plaze. They gave me some free balloons with the pizza, so I used them as well. We had a candle lit heart shaped pizza dinner, drank some wine, I gave her a foot massage, we watched part of 40 year old virgin, and we both fell asleep. No fun stuff until we get married. I am pretty sure when that happens, I will turn into a caveman and you guys will not hear from me for weeks..

Had the romantic weekend getaway (the weekend before V-day anyway). It was during the big blizzard the Northeast got, so we were snowed in for the rest of our plan... which was take a train into NYC to take in sights and such.
We ate at a classy gourmet restaurant that was attached to the hotel. Nice and quiet. The place also had a pool and jacuzzi, so it was nice in there, while watching the snow coming down like a banshee outside!

No kids was wonderful, and we both slept like rocks (especially after all the wild sheet romping that was perfomed!) [img]/images/graemlins/tongue.gif[/img]
