Re: Female singer

My band now has a female singer, along with a guy who does a few songs to give her a break and to do some of the lower stuff. We have her doing everything from AC/DC to Pat Benatar.

Some of the songs we have added for her so far are:

Hit me with your best shot, What you waiting for?, Hella Good, It's my Life (no doubt), Just a Girl, Man I feel Like a woman, Micky, Walking on Sunshine, Call Me, Nutbush. That's it from memory atm.

We're still doing a lot of stuff we used to do with our old male singer, but are thinking more towards what she can do for all new songs. She can sing lots of boy songs that are hard for most guys around here, so we can pick male songs we couldn't do with our old singer either, so it's working out well.

Also, we're just one guitar, bass and drums. With keyboards you can do more, and make some of the above songs work even better.

Re: Female singer

I think it depends on if she's a Joplin - belt it out manly woman or a 'bad girl' kinda cute type, but I can hear a female doing a lot of these well.

The GoGos
Abba - does your mother know
Berlin
Prince - I feel for you, why you wanna treat me so bad, I wanna be your lover
Carly Simon - your so vain
Rod Stewart -you wear it well, maggie mae
stevie wonder -superstitious
Journey?
Montose/Early Hagar?
Guns and Roses
Goo Goo Dolls
Tesla
Ramones - in a Donnas kinda way?
When you take a shower in space, you have to press the water onto your body to clean yourself, and then you gotta vacuum it off. - Ace Frehley

Skunk Anansie. Check 'em out - there's all kinds of stuff, depending on what type of singer yours is. Of course, if she's as versatile as Skin, she can have a go at the lot.

Van Halen - Ain't Talkin Bout Love

You have to be opened minded when picking songs. I originally thought that most of the male lead songs would sound strange with a woman singing them, but I was wrong. A good singer is a good singer. Stay in her range and you will be surprised how well she does. We are fortunate that our singer doesn't mind singing about other chicks and no she is not gay or bi. Re: Female singer

We have the same here. Everyone in the band is 40+ except for the singer/drummer who is 28 yo good looking female. Thats our main draw when we play out. We do a lot of the same songs that are mentioned here. Throw in some Van Halen, Green Day, Vapors (Turnin Japanese ) and we have a good time each time we play out.
