• Cell Phone Text Messages (Must Read)

O.K.
I am really mad at people sending text messages and not spelling the words out. Also using numbers to me this is unacceptable even if its informal context. Buddy to buddy. It promotes bad grammar as well as incorrect spelling which will spill over to your school and or job paperwork. If I send you a message I take the time to spell the word out and use at least some punctuation. I am not perfect I don't expect Racer X levels of grammar and spelling performance.

Also I prefer to talk to you on the phone. Send me a text if I don't answer. I don't have an hour to sit there and send stupid messages back and forth when we could have said everything we needed to in a five minute phone call. Girls are the worst about this. I like to spend my free time typing crap on the JCF not something I can say to you in person or over the phone.

Thats it.

+1. They can send me three messages before I just call them. That's what the phone is for.

+2 - bigtime!

Also, what really pisses me off is when you're talking to friends face to face in a pub or whatever, their phone goes off and they drop everything to read and respond to a text-message, or speak to someone - if it's truly urgent (wife expecting baby etc) then fine, but otherwise, don't be so f*cking rude!

I don't own a cell phone...fuggum!

My wife does in case she breaks down...EMERGENCY use only!

If it is not an "emergency" there is nothing that can't waite 'till I get home to talk about..

I almost got into a fight last week with some nasty, half naked, big bellied, pregnant puke and her baby daddy...she was screaming / swearing in my ear talking to this asshole..

I just snapped and said "get the fuck outta my face ya stupid whore"..she did.

Then listening to her convince "baby-daddy" not to come up and kick my ass..that was amusing..

People can't drive as it is..give them a cell phone and I'd swear they were Fing drunk..non-driving assholes!

gimme your cell phones..I'll smash them all!!

Fuggum...fuggum all!

OK, I'm done..

Same here, don't got one. Hey Bill, have you ever seen video (from England) of this dude that dresses up as a giant cell phone? He runs around and grabs phones from people, then smashes them (the phones not the people) on the ground! It's hilarious!

Re: Cell Phone Text Messages (Must Read)

Sorry, I happen to like my cell phone and yes I abbreviate in text messages because I'm lazy. I would never use cell phone grammar for an email or letter or anything else.

If someone is stupid and uses poor grammar it is because they are stupid and use poor grammar, not because they abbreviate while sending text messages to and from a cell phone.

I use text messages like mad. I hate talking on the phone and there are a lot of times where I have a yes/no question and I know calling is going to turn into a 30 minute call.
I try to spell stuff out, but the character limit forces me to abbreiviate.

Same here...

I have a 300 out and unlimited in, and have used them or gone over.

Sometimes, I just DON'T wanna talk to someone but need to give them info, quick and now.

Sometimes, I just can't be talking to someone as I'm holding on a call, or actually talking to a customer.

Sometimes, I'm around others and can't say what I have to. Or would like to be non-verbal for etiquette reasons etc. I hate talking to someone on a phone while in a restuarant or whatever, I text back.

Ehh, Bill just hates them cuz I haven't shown him how to use one and how cool they are yet, haha.. Maybe in a couple years. Shit, it took me two years to get him off Dial-up to DSL. Cellphones? haha, yeesh...

Ron, well, his fingers are too big to dial a modern cellphone to text anything anyways. So, he's screwed...
