• google releases google page creator

earlier today, google released their web based page creator; a wysiwyg web page editor. think geocities with 98% less annoyance. sadly, the abundance of pages that were created today overwhelmed them (thank you digg.com!) and they're not taking on any new accounts. however, you can sign up to be notified when they are able to add new ones.

basically, it's a template based web site creator. it's not super sophisticated, but you can post pix and the like, and they make it pretty painless. as always, a little coding ability helps, but here's a link with general info, and and here's what i was able to slap together pretty damn quickly. so anyway, if you want a page for yourself that's not a blog, this may be something for you.

Hmmm, I thought they had closed it up temporarily due to too many users, but "I am in". I have no idea what I am doing.....

Re: google releases google page creator

Don't bother checking out 360, I just did, and it's junk. It seems to be pretty much a simple canned home page with various customizable panels. Overall it's extremely limited. There is no raw html editting or raw file upload capability. And it's slow. No wonder they can handle the traffic -- nobody would want to use that POS!

How come you guys are all getting in and I can't? I even have a Gmail account, but all I get are error messages. I did sign up for a notification thingy for when more page accounts are available, but whatever.

Re: google releases google page creator

I have two gmail accounts, and it's only working with one of them. I guess the system was featured on digg.com and slashdot the first day it was released, which is why they had to limit the # of signups.

I just started using it to replace my onlinerock page, which seems to be inaccessible most of the time for no apparent reason.

Still under construction, but here is my page.
