Seriously though, as much as I would be tempted, I couldn't. I'm happily married and plan to stay that way.

So Chris, you're a fireman that is in nursing school? Or are you just a volunteer?

        [/ QUOTE ]
nah, I'm a regular student in nursing school.

It's a 4 year BSN program and I want to go into the masters program at my school to be a nurse anesthetist after I graduate next year.

I don't know of any firefighters that go to nursing school. Most of them just have to be EMT certified which is a single semester of school.

The BSN program is a full 4 year bachelors of science degree.

CRNA is a great profession. Might be where I'm headed after I get tired of the ER. Most CRNA programs require you to have at least three full years of experience in a critical care area -- ICU, Trauma ICU, ER, PACU, etc. You need a lot of experience with drips, lines, IV starts, patients with multisystem pathology.

from what I've heard, experience requirements depend on your university.

luckily, my school only requires 1 year of ICU experience.

I've still got a year left before I graduate, and another year of ICU work that I have to complete before I can apply to teh CRNA program.

we'll see how it works out, but it's something Id really like to do and I pray that everything works out the way I'd like it to.

great to hear from more male nurses though

Yeah, the CRNA program near here only requires one year, but the applicants who get selected usually have at least 3 to 5 years. What they say and what they do are two different things. Good luck!
