wow, no jokes here folks.

I don't think anyone would joke about it. Too often we fail as a society or indiviually the consequences of our actions. You can tell that guy has woken up to a harsh reality.

great post, Mark. It's ALWAYS good to be humbled every once in awhile to remind us of how fast it can all go downhill. Now most of you know I like to enjoy a "few" but there is no room for drinking driving.........ever!

I'm with ya Dave. I enjoy a good alcohol buzz myself, but the vehicle stays parked. I'm not much fun at bars anymore, because I'll only have a couple of beers if I'm driving home. Most youger folks don't know when to stop. (I know, I was young once too)

I'm always the DD... I prefer to mess with the drunks during the ride home instead of being one of them.
The point is, everyone gets home safe.

same here ...
my daugther starts driving in April, so this will be something i will share with her. What is just as scary is kids who race and speed. I pick her up from school and see these teens driving imports that have all the after market stuff. Some drive cars already built for speed like EVO's. When i was a kid we drove cars build for speed, but did it where there were no other cars / people so we could drag from a to b. Flat, straight and dry. Now they think drifting on corners, even in neiborhoods with wet roads is the rage. Countless times I have seen these fools in ditches around where I live.

i decided not to buy a small import that gets good MPG. Instead she will be driving my F-150. So many SUV's around here, I'd rather give her a better chance sitting up high with a lot more metal in case she was in a wreck or may help prevent one. Plus, people don't seem to screw with trucks like they do with cars as far as tailgating, cutting you off and will let you get over to the next lane.

Re: Drinking and driving.......

The problem is we go around so safe an content in our cars for most of our lives we become apathetic to the fact that driving is a huge responsibility. Few drinks here eh whats the big deal. Race here... never seen anyone get hurt whats the big deal? Play with my iPod while going 80 on the highway eh whats the big deal. A lot of us tend to forget that cars are killing machines. I know I do at times.

Re: Drinking and driving.......

That's really sad man. That's also one of the reasons I don't drive at all. I'm usually the one drinkin and there's no way in hell I'd ever wanna drive drunk. My idiot friend decided to one night and hit some dude's uncoming car, tore up his car pretty bad, but the asshole sped away. He got his in the end though, there's no way you let shit like that slide, I don't care how long I've known him for

I hope that medical technology progresses fast enough to enable her to live a normal life sometime in the near future.

And I count my blessings that I was spared being the cause of any accident while drunk. Yes, I stupidly drove drunk many times in my youth and got away with it. I was young and dumb and didn't know better.

What a beautiful girl and what a horrible tragedy. Words can't really express how I feel about what's happened to her. Now both of those people are scarred for life.

PLEASE DON'T DRINK AND DRIVE !!! EVER !!!!

I graciously admit to my youthful indescretions, and thank the Powers That Be for making it through unscathed. Not that just I am ok,but that I hurt no one else in the process..Mind you I went out with a friend on a Friday night from the southern suburbs of Chicago and we awoke on Sunday in the upper peninsula of Michigan with no clue where we were or how we got there..

Those days ended the day I became "Dad",and I have not looked back since...
Bon Jovi is like a frozen Coca Cola.. It's cool, it's crunchy, but when all is said and done it is still pop....
