Re: Are You Normal About Your Cash?

Yeah I pretty much don't carry cash anymore..
I do get cash sometimes if I know I'll need it for something but that's getting rarer.

Re: Are You Normal About Your Cash?

I try to keep cash on me at all times. Usually not more than $20 though. Some places won't take plastic, so what are you going to do? Also, every once in a while the plastic likes to give you the finger. I've had my account locked up a couple of times because of security purpouses. Yes, nice to know the bank is watching my back, but it's totally inconvenient sometimes! Better to have it than not, even though there was no security threat.

Yes, all bills facing the same way and in order. I try to keep loose change in convient spots (like in the ashtray of my car) because it tends to save my ass. I empty my pennies at home into a container and roll them up for when I might need them. I've only been that desperate a couple of times though!

Re: Are You Normal About Your Cash?

On the rare occasion that I do have cash, when I pay for something I hand the bills to the clerk face up. I was once told that it is a sign of respect or something so I started doing it. Is that weird?

[ QUOTE ]

they abolished any denominations less than 5 cents a few years back, so we don't deal in pennies anymore. If the change is only 5 cents, I'll generally accept it, unless there's a charity collection tin at the checkout, in which case I'll drop it in there.

[/ QUOTE ]

DUDE. I really wish they would do that EVERYWHERE.
Pennies are stupid. 1-yen coins in Japan pissed me off to no end.. they were somehow worse than pennies.
The smallest value coins in China were the worst.. super light weight metals, flimsiest coins I've ever seen, and get this-- cashiers would give them to me in change, but I simply couldn't get rid of them no matter how hard I tried...

By the way some friends of mine in high school had an entertaining discussion once-- we thought it would be cool if there was a negative penny, so when you don't want the penny change, you give 'em a dollar and negative penny... there is a huge philosophical paradox behind the idea of negative currency, though.

I personally think they should just say fuck it and fix it so that prices of all goods are in increments of say 10 or 25 cents, sales tax included if applicable. Things that are worth less than 25 cents, you make the price something like 2 for 25 cents or whatever works out that way, and you have to buy 25 cents' worth. It can't be that hard, right?

Because I like flea markets and thrifstores, I usually carry around $200 in cash. I keep the $20's in my back pocket. Anything less goes in the front. My wallet if for the cards and such. Don't tell anyone. I don't want to get rolled.

Never carry cash. Never use debit. Always throw down the credit card! Get cash back or Toys R Us bucks. Plus...get 45 days to pay it back. Leave money in interest bearing account and then make one big payment! Got to make that money work for you!

Plus...don't have to worry about whether to take that penny or not!!!

Re: Are You Normal About Your Cash?

I always carry wads of $100 and $50 bills crumpled-up in my purse, sometimes they just fall out randomly. When I go out, I just throw a fistful of random bills at the cashier/waiter/waitress, and tell them to make sure I get EXACTLY the right change back, then I tip them the coinage only at the table, and throw a wad of ones at them on my way out the door.

In the drive-thru, I just throw a fistful of coins at the cashier and tell them to "Pick 'em up!" and laugh as I throw dollars on their backs.

I always carry cash and I usually carry close to a grand, often quite a bit more. You just never know when "cash" is going to seal the deal on a hot new axe.

I use my debit card a lot but keep all my bills in order and facing the same way. I never carry cash in my wallet and usually keep a couple hundred in my pocket. For some reason i don't feel right not having any cash on hand...

I use my debit card too. Years of working in retail have conditioned me to keep my cash bankfaced (all facing one way, little bills to big ones) when I do have some in the wallet though. I don't like to spend though.
