If the community doesn't give enough of a rat's ass to even call an ambulance for a guy who's bleeding...they get what they get. I don't blame them either. This episode did really drive home the point that school was the only way out of those types of crappy jobs for me and I eventually went on to a computer career on Wall St though, so it probably helped me long term. I'd have followed my father into the NYPD if not for the cancer.

I was a cabby in the South Bronx in '90 when a crackhead reached around from the back seat of the cab and slit my throat with a box cutter, completely severing my aorta. He shoved a hand into the pocket of my shirt and grabbed what cash I had (he had asked for change and simply watched where I put my hand before slicing me open) and he jumped out the back driver side door and ran. He ran right behind the cab! Somehow, he managed to get himself run over repeatedly by my cab for about a minute or so. I then drove myself about 2 miles to the hospital, losing about 9 pints of blood in the process. The soles of my socks (under my toes) were wet with blood when I stumbled into the front door of the hospital. I had to go to the front door, away from the actual doctors and equipment, because the emergency entrance was being "remodeled"! I fell down dead on the floor inside the front door so hard that the glass eye I have (from cancer at age 2) shot out of my head and shot across the floor from the impact. I'm sure the poor bastard who was working night security still remembers this lovely sight! [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img] Anyway, I got better, and the scumbag who robbed me did not.

I'm sorry, but I am an attorney, and a divorced dad with two kids that are residing out of state against my wishes, my custody agreement and the Uniform Child Custody Jurisdiction Act. It sucks, and it is heartbreaking. However, it isn't my aorta opened up and blood spewing forth from me like a fire hose.

Sully's actions are very admirable, and I myself am probably going down that road very soon, but yours are downright superhuman.

I would have gone into instant shock and died in the cab. Most of us would have, actually. Not only did you hold it together long enough to get to a hospital, but you killed the piece of shit motherfucker that did this to you first.

I did bleed to death though, and was eventually dead for about 45 seconds. No 'walk to the light', no nothing, just 'off'. But, like I mentioned earlier (and you could likely guess), I got better!

We have had 3 police officers killed and a firefighter directing traffic struck by a hit and run driver here in the last 10 days..Sure,I've done some stupid s#!t,and got caught,but have always given the respect the title deserves,and have actually been complimented on it as they handed me my paperwork..
