Dubai gives up stakes in USA ports!!

Whew!

Though I am a Republican supporter, this by far was the biggest blunder Bush has pulled. [img]/images/graemlins/scratchhead.gif[/img]

It was going to be a very painful lesson for Bush because Congress is worrying about elections this year, and the people weren't happy about this dealio.

The UAE is an ally and has been pretty cooperative with us on the terror war to date. Sure, a UAE citizen was one of the 9/11 hijackers. American citizens blew up the Murraugh
Federal Building in OKC; does that mean we can't trust ourselves?

Face it, there really IS no port security in the US as we do it now, regardless of who's in charge...

my understanding of this is that DP World (which sounds like a porn website to me [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img] ) is backing out of the deal entirely. I hope I'm not wrong there.

That's how really stupid this whole deal is. It doesn't matter who runs the joint. Rats can always get it. What is fascinating is the unanimous uproar. Now, if we could just harness that uproar and take care of what really matters. Our heathcare system is a disgrace. Our infa-stucture if 50 years old and our school systems are just....... I'd venture to slightly disagree with you there.
his blatant love affair with open borders and illegal alien amnesty plans is by far his biggest blunder. the ports fiasco would come a far second to that utter insanity.

I don't really know what to think about the UAE... They're rich as all god damned hell... I don't see why they would want to invest in foreign(Ib4e?) ports unless they have malicious intentions!

The UAE and the US are allies of convenience. The only thing that's stopping Iran from just taking the UAE and other small Gulf states (it would probably take all of a half-dozen fishing trawlers to handle the invasion) is the US military presence in the area. That's not the sort of relationship that tends to build a lot of trust between the parties.
