Maybe you can bargain with her for a new guitar.

Dude, I'm seriously rooting for ya, that's a killer deal. And in the end, it's good for you too, health-wise, but I'm sure that thought is being overshadowed by a Harley

Atkins. That idiot ought to be glad he's dead. He won't have to pay the lawsuits that are going to follow from all of the folks that drank the koolaid of his ridiculous diet.

Eat bacon instead of bananas. Yeah, right.

Mike, get off the meat and get on the RAW veggies. Zeegler is spot on.

Got kids? I ask because I was in Toys R Us with my sister and great-niece a few weeks ago, and they have adult Harley-Davidson bicycles for about $225.

              Good motivator, Sambencuda

6'4" club here, I am well over 3 bills, trying to lose this year also, I suffer from the same late night eating habits you did. See if I can get to 290 when you're at 250. I have been eating salads for dinner and have started walking every day for at least 20 minutes. I was riding my bicycle but some f#cktard hit me and it's f#&#&d up.

Re: Deal from my wife - lose 65lbs = a new Harley!

Jim, I don't get it really..

I get "the deal"..but isn't you and your wife's money ..the same money..if YOU can't afford it..ummm..then how can she..??

That's like my brother-in-law buying that 400 dollar ring for my sister..that's cool and all..but he doesn't work..he hasn't worked..he won't work..he's allergic to work..but he sure is generous with her money..I guess he was just trying to pay her back for the Mustang she bought him..I dunno..

So my sis is paying for his Mustang and her ring..and all the other gifts he buys her

Me and the wife have "our" money..

we both have our own "pocket change" for this and that and the other thing...we stash a little of that as our own "mad money"..

Not trying to get too personal or anything..but this subject comes up with me and family and whatnot..quite often!!

                  just thinkin'..

I'm glad you have some incentive for getting in better shape..and if she can manage to pay off a HD with her "mad money"..I call it.

                    cool!!

Re: Deal from my wife - lose 65lbs = a new Harley!

You hit it on the head Bill. there is no "her" money or "my" money. It's our money. Always has been.

Let me put it to you this way, If we wanted to go out today and buy a brand new Harley, we certainly could afford it, but I wouldn't push it because we don't need it and why take on more debt. I've talked about getting a Harley ever since I've known her. My brother bought a brand new Harley last year and I think that might be what sparked this off. She really noticed me drooling over it.

I think it's her way of saying If you lose the wieght, I'm on board with a new (or used) bike. She was never opposed before, but I never pushed, because we needed cars, new windows, a new furnace and kids. I don't need to tell you about kids and money. A bike has never been a priority for us. Neither one of us would make a major purchase without consulting each other first.

My wife is cool as hell as far as toys and things like that, but it's because we both know our limits with it.

I honestly don't know what will happen when I get to to 250. She may say "Ok lets go to the Harley dealer and finance it". Hell, I may even say no. She's hell bent on keeping her end of the Bargain though.

And to tell you the truth, I'd be doing this with the deal or not. I need get healthier.

Ron, you got hit! Jesus. If I ever hit someone on a bike, I'd shit my pants if I got out of the car and saw you lookin back at me. the only thing that would be worse would be if it was Bill!

From the pics I've seen, you don't look like 300 Ron. You carry it well. I guess we just have "big bones!"

I did Atkins for years, I still don't eat alot of carbs...I never eat sugar, or drink sugar sodas. I never thought Atkins would work, but fuck...did it work. Once you use it, you will forever live a low carb lifestyle. I fought so hard to lose weight that I feel incredible guilt if I eat a bowl of pasta, or a candybar. I just don't do it.

                        [/ QUOTE ]

Heh I know that feeling.. I did a modified version of Atkins.. no not a pound of bacon. I dropped 50 pounds and have maintained that for2 years now...

I dropped all Sugar, Pastas,White Floured products.. Eat a lot more grains now..The big savior for me was Chicken salad, Tune Salad and Buffalo Chicken salads .. No late night snacking help for sure..

I used to really crave pasta and white bread badly and wondered how I could get on without it.. I assumed I was setting myself up for failure but after my body started its purge I don't crave it anymore.

Your of the right mind set.. Find something that YOU can live with as it becomes a lifestyle.. The last piece of advice is do not totally deny yourself or will will most certainly fail . find small ways to enjoy the extras on occaission just not everyday)..

Geez, we should have a 6-3 club that needs to lose weight. I'm at 243lb., but I'd like to go down 220 by the time we have those 2 weeks of summer in Aug. (seattle area).

I'm 6'-2" and hovering around 235 right now. I need to get myself down to a reasonable level. I'm not exactly fat, but I've got a decent sized gut, and a double chin. If I can get down to 190, I'll be happy. That's 45 lbs. I should be able to do that in a couple of months.

I haven't had a weight problem but I do put on 5-8lbs just about every winter when I don't exercise. I don't eat many snacks, sweets, chips, etc. That is what gets you. I have a light breakfast...meadium lunch and a big dinner. I eat whatever foods I want but make sure I have fruit and veggies. I begin running in February and drop the extra pounds by April. I run 3-5 miles a day several times a week until October and I become winter lazy

Exercise is the key imho...diet alone isnt gonna help you much

You don't know what you are talking about. Atkins has been around since the 1970's and it is a proven method of controlling your weight and living a healthy, yes, HEALTHY life. If done correctly, Atkins will LOWER your bad cholesterol. You don't always eat a pound of Bacon, dude. Eating vegetables is also very healthy...and when you combine Atkins with veggies, it is great. The point is to get away from deadly, fattening foods that are processed and loaded with useless carbs and sugar. Do you think cavemen had problems controlling their weight? Processed food is the killer....as is a sedentary lifestyle.
