Re: Key West again

I am embarrassed to say I've never had a mojito - and this thread has taken a mature turn, however a mojito is:

2-3 oz Light rum
Juice of 1 Lime (1 oz)
2 tsp Sugar
2-4 Mint sprigs
Soda water

Folks say it is similar to a mexican martini, though I really don't see how.

That's it!

Bert - there's a bar up in the Tenderloin that makes great mojitos but I don't recall the name (that's how I know they were great).

I hate rum but mojitos are very good. Slightly sweet but not so sweet that you feel like you're going to hurl if you drink a few.

Any stout drinkers here? I'd take a Guinness any day over light beers or Corona.

Cheers,
Nick

P.S. I heard about Mojitos through Family Guy...I'll have to concoct one some day.

Sounds like a slightly less gay mint julip

I like boddingtons. If you have one before 11am it tastes like drinking runoff from an ash tray full of cigars and budweiser - it's all downhill from there

Yep, I love stout, IPAs, barley wine, pretty much anything that's not one of those pale yellow pisswater domestics. Try a shot of Kahlua in a pint of stout for something different. It's lots better than you think it will be.

Bud Light? I can't drink yellow beer anymore... Well, I do like Corona sometimes, but mostly I drink Guinness and Wicked Ale.

Every so often when I feel like getting into trouble I'll nurse on a bottle of Jack Daniels.

That's how I heard of them, too. I just keep picturing Brian saying Mojito.

not a big fan of Guinness, it's just too heavy. Although I hear that drinking it in Ireland makes all the difference (so say some of my world-travelling friends). I do like nice glass of Boddingtons or Newcastle Brown Ale. Or Toooheys Old - that's a beer you can sink your teeth into.

As far as amber fluids, we have some nice domestic ales here, so I drink them too. Not a fan of bitters though.

Yeah, Guinness in Ireland is different than what we get here in the states from what I understand. It's not even from Ireland, it's brewed in Canada.

One of my favorites is a porter, but I like Bock's, stouts and ales too...Just can't drink lagers too much. I think stouts ruined me for them.

I need to get off my ass and brew my own beer again. That's where the good stuff is.

You can get Mojitos just about any where down this way, They're actually not that bad. Since your gonna be in the Keys get a Rum runner or a Talking Parrot. Talking parrots are sweet & creep up on you.
