  • Free Joe Satriani @West LA Music, Westwood Tonight

I've got one extra laminate pass for Joe Satriani's show at West LA Music in Westwood, CA tonight at 7pm. First person to email me at [email protected] by 2:30pm PST gets the pass.

Please don't email if you're not sure you can make it. Let's give it to someone who knows he can get there.

I don't know what time the doors will open but I will be there by 4pm so we'll exchange descriptions and meet there.

    Good luck!

I would go, but I have a previous engagement down in OC.

Sorry, Ron. I went up to the store yesterday to see what was going on...originally, I was told they would call people who signed up online a few days before the show and apparently that plan changed. So I only got my passes yesterday...then, my bud couldn't get off work early enough this evening to go. So I thought of you all and said what the hey...

I'll still have it with me there. Maybe I'll give it to a poor soul who was waiting for that confirmation call like I was.

Hope it's a good show. I'll be visiting my brother in San Diego first week of May and we're going to see him at Humphrey's on the Bay. I haven't seen Satch since the first G3 tour almost 10 years ago. Damn.

Dude, I remember seeing that but something was going on that day and I couldn't get up there that early.

Satch was incredible tonight. Played a short set, around 45 minutes. Full band: Dave LaRue, bass; Jeff Campitelli, drums; Galen Hansen, rhythm guitar. Joe played his Chromeboy exclusively although he had a backline of at least four-five other Ibanezes handy...through two JSX heads with Peavey cabs.

Set list: Super Colossal, Just Like Lightning, Red Shift Riders, Cool #9 (best performance of that song I've ever heard him do, he was warmed up by that point), Satch Boogie, Surfing With The Alien, Crowd Chant (new cut; has another title on some pressings of the CD), and Ice 9. Not bad for free..!

Played outside in a tiny amphitheater across the street from LA Music, south side of Santa Monica. The sound was absolutely immaculate. Joe's tone was a bit dark for my taste...but because of the tiny venue, everything was mixed and projected flawlessy. And give the store, D'Addario and Planet Waves credit; they put on a great event.
