Has anyone tried this turd yet?

There's at least one thing I noticed in the 10 minutes I had it loaded that seriously concerns me. It wants you send the website you are looking at to Microsoft to be checked for phishing... Sounds like a privacy issue to me. Especially with Bush and the boys demanding internet records from ISP's and search engines.

Beyond that it's packed full of bugs. Althought it's still in beta I do hope they do a lot of work on it before even considering releasing a final for the updates page.

Re: Internet Explorer 7

I use IE but havent tried 7 yet.

Security issues are kinda funny. People dog MS for security issues but if you think about it its pretty damn secure for the amount of people using it. You have so many people looking for breaches where as others don't have as widspread user base so theres not a lot of people looking for leaks. Why break into an empth vault?

If you live in the middle of nowhere you can leave you house unlocked all the time..........once neighborhoods go up around you, you better rethink your approach to secrity

that's a great analogy, shawn.

consider a few things, though.... symantec sells what? anti-virus products. their findings, while i'm sure are legit, may not be as altruistic as one may think. like any other business, they need to keep selling their products, so if the monster can live under your browser, then good times. they can help keep the monster from killing you in your sleep, but you'll still hear it snoring under your bed.

...or some shit like that.

anyway, they don't say which versions of IE or FF that they tested; not that it matters a ton, but FF came out with a new version a couple of months ago, and clearly, IE7 is pretty new as well from what i gather.

Re: Internet Explorer 7

I use both IE7 and FF... I don't see any real differences between them. They both have their positives and negatives.
As for the anti-phishing crap... I just tuned that "feature" off... it's annoying as hell.

Exactly about the viruses. It's kind of like people getting sick. The drug companies won't make $100B+ a year if they cure people.

Pretty much the same goes for anti-virus companies and even Microsoft. If MS releases the perfect stable and bullet proof OS and Browser, the buck stops there... So they just keep blowing smoke up our asses.

Security is directly related to functionality. A bulletproof system would be pretty worthless where functionality is concerned.
