I use soundforge 7.0 to attempt to tab stuff.
i will select a section and pick out the notes i can make out.The program will loop the section over and over and over until i can get close.I have a hard time with certain chords or stuff that is way detuned and really fast.Hard to tell whats going on sometimes.Also in soundforge i can change the Hz to slow down the song.May not be in the same key but i get the idea.Especially really fast,tricky odd metered rythms.
