very fishy

the ONLY way it would work is that it has real samples wich are recorded previously.

no fucking way you can replicate an electric guitar with midi soundbanks. Not in a 30 years.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You pretty much nailed it right there. The trills and everything sampled and need to be assigned to a key. Also, you can assign a different sample depending on how hard the key is hit (Hence the harmonics/trills on the same key.) This is marketing bullshit.

Yeah, same here. It isn't fake though, or at least it is not that hard to do what that guy is doing. You sample your guitar and map the sounds to keyboard with midi sequencing (or some such jibber-speak). I play guitar because I like to play guitar. My brother is heavily into midi sequencing etc and does stuff like this but for guitar I'd rather play or watch someone else play a real guitar.

It's not fake. You could see him really working the wheel on the left side. I'm guessing this controls some of the samples and sounds.

What killed me is when he would hold a note and get the pinch harmonic

Sweet...if they only had a hand held unit like Jan Hammer's w/ Jeff Beck. Would love to see a guitar duel with one! Maybe Childern of Bodom?

I can assure you that I could play that alot faster than a real guitar!

Wow, you could really motor on that!

Sleep. The sound doesn't collapse to riffs of early eyes either.

Re: Who needs a guitar anyway..........

I'm not sure I really see the point. If you want to sound like a guitar, why not just play a guitar?

It does have a certain circus-like "wow" factor, but I think it's only because it doesn't seem possible. But at the same time, if I ignore HOW it's being played and just listen to WHAT is being played it sounds rather sterile. Kind of like a drum machine versus live drums.

well, they said the day would come 20 years ago when sampling 'could' replace studio musicians...

...it's here. Still, tho, it did sound a little too perfect and in the can but it was cool...and very real.

The keyboard can be split up and different keys can be assigned different effects. I noticed the use of the expression wheel as well right from the start. Whenever he used an effect like double picking, squeels, unison bends etc.. he was triggering something.... whoever programmed that knows or can read guitar phrasing very well, it sounded quite realistic on the whole IMO.

as aboveits real and the keyboard is split into layers-expression wheel is used a fair bit and you could program that with midi to change patches mid song on the fly as you play.cool shit, beats the fuck out of my Alesis synth

Re: Who needs a guitar anyway..........

it's FAKE fucking FAKE as fucking faking FAKE

I know this shit, with todays technology it is IMPOSSIBLE to replicate an electric guitar sound. MIDI CANNOT make so precise "codes/signals" so it would produce the electric guitar sound, electric guitar sound is too complex. Anyone who works in the audio-electronics industry would say that.

That keyboard is like a tape teck, the guitars are recorded into it, the normal notes, harmonics etc. The keys and the wheel are just the play buttons.

off corse if a playback device is the real deal then it's not fake

gee, I think this argument of "is it fake, is it not", "is it live or memorex" has been on the rage for about 20 years now. Na, there is playback there, but I say it is real.

I saw a couple of instances where the keys didn't match what I heard. Look back near the trills section. It looks like he had already played those keys and regular notes came out. He then hit the same keys and it produced different notes that were trilled. I saw other instances where the fingering didn't match up with what I was hearing. Sometimes it looked like he didn't use the wheel yet I still heard vibrato. hmmm...
