I just love Dave's playing and have heard him shred the fuck out of the guitar as good as any other solely metal players that you guys talk about here.

Please tell me you're not putting Navarro in the same category as EVH, Rhoads, Lynch, Demartini, Gilbert, Friedman, Oliva, etc...

the reason few people here know or talk about Dave's playing is that this is pretty one-dimensional board as far as musical tastes go.

really? I've found there to be plenty of people willing to jump to someone's assistance when asked for suggestions re: jazz, blues, funk, country, 70's rock, hard rock, thrash, etc. There are plenty of discussions about death metal and the like, but I've found listening tastes to be quite diverse here. Seen the recent discussions about Firehouse, Thin Lizzy, Govt Mule? It's not all Children of Bodom, Illdisposed & Nile. Quite a few Janes & RHCP fans here too, although I would consider myself one of the former, not the latter.

I think some people are so sure of the exclusivity of their interests that they fail to see the affirmative responses around them.

I like Navarro but I would call him masterful or metal when it pertains to guitar. I think the better term for Dave would be that he's a creative guitarist.
I also think he is a good host for the show and he is married to possibly the hottest chick on the planet.

The thing that baffles me is how this show couldn't find an already formed band that needed a singer.. like Queen or VH or AIC. Its not going to be as interesting with this new band Supernova considering they haven't done anything in the past. No back catalog. Nothing to compare the new singers to. Its not going to be as good of a show.

I think the band has potential to be very cool. They have a great lineup. I am going to watch it.

I'll check it out to see what Jason is up to now. I kind of felt sorry for him with that Echo Brain thing he was doing. That was juts horrible.

That is rubbish!! Perhaps the conversation dwells on metal and hard rock for the most part, but that's because this is the Jackson Charvel forum. Get it? However, there have been countless threads where the talk has turned to blues, jazz, punk, etc, etc. A lot of people on this board are fond of female vocalists like Tori Amos, Kate Bush, etc.

You must have this place confused with the BC Rich board where all the 14 year olds listen to Slipknot.

+2, I listen to everything...I listen to more blues than metal, and I generally don't listen to what most people here listen to.

We have very diverse musical taste here.

Re: Rock Star news...

it might also surprise people to learn that Dave's first band, prior to Janes, was a speed metal band that played on the Strip in the mid-80's called Dizastre.
no joke!

Dave has always been considered the metal part of Janes Addiction. in JA circles that is.

not that that means Megadeth metal, of course, but I love the guy's playing and when he gets heavy, he gets HEAVY.

Not me, I believe you reap what you sew. He put himself into that position. You can say he has bagged better looking babes than I ever have....you can even say he is a better player than me...but, he still took it in the butt.....which makes the first two statements null and void in my book. Yup, I am a rednecked, white trashed piece of shit.....and damned proud of it!!!!
