JCF site works everywhere but home, why?

Any computer buffs here...the JCF website works everywhere, and I mean everywhere, but here at home. It works while I'm at college, it works on my girlfriend's computer, on any other computer but my computers here at home. I have 3 computers at home, and none of them will access the JCF while I'm home. I don't get it! I'll type in the site, as usual. The standard search engine pops up for MSN, with the JCF site listed there as the number 1 found site...so I click on it, but nothing happens! It just blanks and gives me that damned "site cannot be found" shit. I've tried everything recommended. I've checked the LAN settings, the cookie settings, privacy settings, security settings, I've gone through internet explorer as opposed to signing in through MSN.

I can also click on the "cached" tab next to the JCF site when the search engine comes up, and it gives me a blank view of the JCF with no pictures, the page is all white, with just lettering, but a big red X where all the logos should be. This has pissed me off beyond belief, and I don't understand why it's happening. I've searched for help on the internet, I've searched on the help section for MSN and internet explorer...but there's nothing. I'm ready to kick all the computers to shit. Anyone know how to fix this?

Sounds like a problem with your ISP, or possibly your network configuration. Open up a command prompt and type "nslookup www.jcfonline.com" and see if it prints out 64.37.122.50 somewhere in the output.

Alright, I opened the command prompt, and typed that in, and indeed, I got those exact numbers in the output. What does that mean?

That means you should be able to connect to the JCF!

(More precisely it means your computer knows where the JCF "is"...)

You did this on your home machines where it doesn't work? If so then I don't really know what the problem could be.

Maybe try another browser... I don't think that will help, but it's worth a shot. FireFox is much better than IE anyway (especially right now, there's a critical vulnerability in IE for which there is no patch and it's already being exploited by hackers...)

Everytime I log in from work I come home and can not log on here until I clear my cache.I have no idea why or if that is what is going on in your case ...just something that happens to mine all the time.

Try that again but instead of nslookup type ping and see if you get a reply from 64.37.122.50 The nslookup command just resolves the name to the ip address but does not check reachability

Or you can just do a "tracert www.jcfonline.com" (assuming DNS is working, obviously) and see how far you get... [img]/images/graemlins/wink.gif[/img]

Alright, well thanks a lot, guys...I did the "nslookup" from the home computer...but now I'm back at college, so for another 6 weeks I won't have to worry about it. But I'll definitely try the other suggestions when I get back home. Thanks!
