  • My Book... is at the publisher!

    Hey everyone,

Long-time, no post... sorry about that. I have been SOOOOO busy finishing up my book! It's been four long years of writing and I finally completed my manuscript and sent it to my publisher last Friday (3/31)!!! WOO HOO!!! So from what I understand it will only be another month or two and it will be available at all online bookstores.

Most of you guys (and girls) have known me here on the JCF for a good number of years (6 or 7 is it? it's been a long time!) and you know about me and what makes me a little bit different than most other JCFers, lol. Well, this book is about who I am and the path I took to get where I am, but it's about SO much more, too! I think everyone will find it entertaining at the very least, and I hope that it helps people understand what people like me go through just to find ourselves.

I've set up a special page on my website for my book, which has up-to-date info about it and the current status of publication, etc. I would love to have you stop by to check it out when you get the chance. There is a link to it on my main page. You'll see it if you go to http://annah.rightsideout.net

Thanks for all your support, compassion and JCF Love! You guys rock!

    ~Annah

congratulations Annah, I've been threatening to write a book of the goings on in my simply ridiculous path through this world, but i am just too lazy to get off my ass and do it. someday it will appear, and maybe seeing that you had the discipline to actually pull it off will get me off and running on it cuz it would be a really sick book. My friends and I could make "The Dirt" by Motley Crue look like a Sunday visit to Church-lol
I'll be sure to check yours out, and congrats again.

Congrats Annah, that's great news. I wish I had the motivation to get further than the first 12 pages I keep writing.

Annah... I just spent the last hour reading through your site and all I can say is WOW!.
You are truely an amazing person and writer. I cannot wait to read your book.
              Congrats on the book deal.

P.S. I was more than likely at your show at the Jar back in 92.
I used to hang out there when I wasn't doing the doorman thing over at the Library Cafe.

LOL... Tommy, actually, you don't have to get off your ass to write a book, you can do it whilst sitting!

Thanks you guys. I'm so excited. I never realized just how much work it is to do this, and they say that writing the book is the easy part! omg... If that's true, then I have a lot of work ahead of me!

RJ - Thank you! Really, you were in AZ then? That's cool! That would be amazing if you were at that show! I have video of our band performing at both those Tool shows, in one of them you can hear some guy yelling "TOOL!!! TOOL!!!" between our songs. LOL. I'll be posting video from that show on my secret book spot on my website (for buyers of the book) but I've got a pic from the show somewhere on my website, I think. If not I'll post it, maybe it'll jog some memories.

We played the Library Cafe a few times, too. Hmmm... you have any pics? I wonder if I'd recognize you.

                  Annah,
Having seen your DHC special,I look forward to reading your book. After watching it, can only say that you are an incredible human being. If by being "a little different" you mean that you know exactly who you are, what you want, and have achieved a Zen-like comfort level within yourself, then you have reached a state of existance most others could only hope to enjoy.
Bon Jovi is like a frozen Coca Cola.. It's cool, it's crunchy, but when all is said and done it is still pop....

I saw the pic of the show you had on your site... that's what kicked in my memory from way back when. What was the name of your band?
As for the Library Cafe, I was the only 6' 2" long haired blonde guy working there. I stuck by the door mostly because Chuck trusted me to not let the kiddies in no matter how cute they were. I probably collected about 20 or 30 fake ID's every Friday and Saturday night.
Granted I did let my GF (4 years younger than me) in once to see Dangerous Toys. She's my wife now, so I guess it turned out OK .
I like the Library Cafe for gigs though... big stage, great house system and a decent sound guy. Plus Chuck actualy paid the bands unlike Frank over at the Jar.
Anyway... I'll see if I can dig up a pick from back then. Remember, Chuck made us all wear tuxdeo shirts and bow ties... so cool.

Hey, that worked out well for you (gf/wife)! Yeah, Franco sucked most of the time, especially where money was concerned. Is he still there? I will never forget (this is in my book in more detail) about how he wanted us to play a "Metallica Tribute" show at the Jar. I said, "Hell no!" Because I didn't want to get labeled a Metallitribute band. He begged us (back then we could play all of Kill 'em All from first to last note, plus most of the rest of their stuff) and I said, "Fine, if you give us a really good opening slot, we'll talk." He flipped his big calendar over and in bold black letters it read "TOOL" on one of the days. I about freaked out and said, "There. That's it. We'll open for Tool." He said, "No." I said, "See ya!" and walked toward the door. He said, "Okay, okay..." And wrote us in. How cool that was!

Oh yeah, the name of our band was Thunderin' Reign. You might recall our drummer killed himself. We had a small tribute to him at the Jar. Seek n' Destroy and Fade to Black were our staple Metallica songs. The rest of our set was all original stuff. Chris (other guitarist/singer) and I traded-off lead vocals. It's weird watching that video now. Seems like a totally different person altogether. Funny though, one of the songs I wrote and performed was called Bitter End, which was totally about dealing with GID. There were some fun days in there, tough as it was sometimes.

Hmmm... 6'2" and tuxedo shirts.... sounds awfully familiar.

I heard that Bill (horns666) was going to write a book about his life but it would be entirely too heavy. Imagine having to use a hand truck to get your book out of the store.
Congratz Annah. Thats very cool news.
