Yup. He started out with the Rickys, but switched to Gibsons because the Rickys were "too fragile". Rickenbacker gave him shit for saying that, but it was true. He plays mostly Strats now, but all of the live footage you see of him, and most of the really well known Who material was all Gibson. It was only early on that he used Rickys.
Picture Pete in your head. White jumpsuit. Doc Martens. White SG. Doing a windmill!
Yeah Pete broke a really expensive Rickenbacker while performing at a gig. He discovered it made a cool sould when he beat it on the low ceiling. and low and behold it broke, so he finished it off by bashing it on the floor and the crowd loved it. thats when he switched to Gibsons on stage (SG mostly) cuz the Ric's were too expensive and hard to get, to be smashing up after every show , and Gibsons were considered fairly inexpensive back then, He still uses Ric's when he records

How about:
Steinberger...Vito Bratta
Moog...Rick Wakeman
Heil...Peter Frampton
What player do you people feel did more for the sales and marketing of the Gibson Les Paul than anybody (Les Paul himself not included).
My pick is Ace Frehely but I wonder if Peter Frampton might be even higher up. Maybe it should be Zack Wylde or Jimmy Page?
Its an interesting question to me. .
How about the Gibson SG?? Tony Iommi? George Harrison? Eric Clapton? Frank Zappa?
Fender Stratocaster?? There are a ton of them
Fender Telecaster?? again.. a ton of them
Flying V (the body style) could it be Michael Schenker or Rudy? What about Hendrix or even earlier?
Floyd Rose? EVH I guess
Explorer body style?? You could argue that Mathias Jabs really did alot for the Explorer but what about Rick Neilsen??
