I liked Chucks because they felt comfortable because I tied them so they were real loose and could be slipped on and off. I have a pair of the bastardly PF Flyers too and imo they're better. They're kinda like more for people with less flat feet because they're shaped inside on the bottom unlike Chucks.

Forgot to mention they're more durable and less flimsy.

I have a pair of the standard leather ones now. I used to wear nothing but the canvas ones in the 80's until I switched to Vans (yes, I was a skater)
I just got these leathers for X-mas, and they are falling apart already. The canvas ones if I remember correctly, didn't last very long either (if you wore them daily like I did).

        This being said...I prefer Nikes

Airwalk and Vans have always been cool, too. Go to www.vans.com and build your own for $50.

i love chucks. they're comfortable, and perfect for me because the soles are low and aren't bulky at all.

but yeah, they wear out, definitely. I've already gone through a pair since last summer.

I got a pair of higher chucks last april and the left one started to rip apart on the inner side of the foot few weeks ago. It has a 3cm wide slit and I'm afraid is going to be even wider. And these are the only shoes I have at the moment besides the Getta Grip boots because somebody stole my Converse basketball shoes last november .

IMO chucks look great, and are great for summer. the only thing I don't like about them is flat feet.

Ahh! The memories! I can remember going to a shoestore. Remember those!!! They were called "hightops and lowtops" What I never understood, even now, is why the Converse sticker was on the inside on the outside? No Keds or PF Flyers for us in the 'burbs. Anybody remember Desert Boots or my all-time favorate Floaters. Hell. In highschool Wing-tips were the rage. I want to be young again.

I think they look and feel terrible. Whenever I need shoes I go try on just about everything I can until I find something comfortable. Recently it has been Adidas running shoes, though I need to get a new pair of shoes soon.

I've been on a vans kick lately myself; used to wear chucks fairly frequently though (I preferred the low-tops)

boxcar, PF Flyers came before chucks. my dad used to have them.

i can't wear them anymore without my knees getting sore (no arches whatso), but i love em. they're just classic. don't buy into the emo shit; people have worn them since the 60s. they were popular all the time; they were the "air jordans" of the day. i cannot imagine that people actually played basketball in them, though. yikes!

anyway, punks wore em in the 70s, metal and glam kids wore em in the 80s, suicidal grunge kids wore them in the 90s, blah blah blah. my favorite pair that i had were the kind that were mid-calf length, and they'd fold over. they were turquoise on the outside and yellow on the inside. loved em.

heh, that reminds me of when i was a hollywood resident. there was a band called the zeros. they had a converse endorsement and had custom-made thigh high converse chucks!

haha I guess that would make the one of the "suicidal grunge kids in the 90s" that wore them. I just remember in high school getting shit for wearing them and having to go to the only store in town to get them every few months, then two years later emo exploding and being able to find them at every store in the mall.

They were "the shoe" for us growing up in the midwest in the 70s, I have a pair of old ragged out black canvas hightops on right now. In the mid 80s they came out with a bunch of wild colored ones, half the pics of me at this time I have a turquoise pair of high tops on, No support what so ever they tend to tear easily especially near the pinky toe, but the canvas ones are comfy after you break em in, and they are great for doing yardwork and other projects where you work up a sweat, because the canvas is a natural material and your "dogs can breathe"
I say the boy ain't right!

I had the same ones, same color. The only pair of Converse I think I ever owned.
