He should try to set him up for a BIN.. (not sure if you can after the wheels are set in motion) and the guy pays the BIN.. its a done deal. Chances are.. if no one else has bid over 200, he should take the offer. Not a question of ethics because really.. bottom line.. a seller can sell to whoever they want for whatever they want to pay. Even on eBay. You can even relist an item you previously sold and sell it for higher amount and not get into to much hot water over it if you haven't done it before...except maybe get a neg...because thatis unethical.
It really is a question of do you trust the buyer to uphold the offer and not pull anything out of the ordinary. This sounds like someone has a "I have to have it" itch.
Wait for funds to clear. Typically the payment funds what costs are involved in shipping when a seller says 'buyer must pay all shipping'.
If it's really yours, don't show it, that's a big no-no. Or since it's not a guitar, I'd email or PM them, not just ask on the thread. But my guess would be no...
I dont get it. Someone wants to backdoor your auction for big bux and youre worried about losing sleep over the poor other guy who is bidding on it? On top of it he hasnt met reserve and is the same bidder who lowballed you the previous time you tried to sell it? I dont see the problem. Tell the $350 guy that you will end the auction for a paypal payment. Then have the money transferred out of your paypal account asap. Just wait a day or 2 before shipping. the upcoming weekend sounds like a good excuse to me.
Just call my friend old-fashioned. He told me it's a Paypal only auction. What if I were to advise him to e-mail both of them and tell the reserve. And let them fight it out?
Now, we got (have) ( eat my shorts ) an international RacerX. "Oh!!! The humanity"
Why do you hate gay Navy guys?
It's not an easy situation. I would not end the auction until I have the $350 from the backdoor-guy. But, even though it sounds very unlikely, someone could have bid more than that until then. I guess you think that anything above your current reserve is a good deal for you, so maybe you should go for the $350, and not risk pissing off both buyers, ending up not selling anything.
Ebay gives the seller the opportunity to cancel any or all bids, and cancel the auction at any time (except the last 12 hrs I think). Ebay also provides 4 or 5 standard "reasons" to choose from as to why there was a cancellation.
In my auctions I list that I reserve the right to cancel any bids for any reason. I'd say by the way Ebay is set up, you're covered.
Here's what I did. I e-mailed the first guy and told him what the second guy offered. And I told him the reserve. I e-mailed the second guy and said: "Thanks, but no thanks." And I told him the reserve. With 3 days left, this could get good.
Eh, you probably just shortchanged yourself. But if that makes you feel you did the right thing, power to you. I would have relisted it for a BIN of $350 and emailed it to the second guy, of course let him know it's coming. He may bot bid o0n it in the auction, just because you wouldn't end it early for him. Impulse buying is a curious thing.
The bottom line for me is that the items ( there are two) cost just about $50 with the listing and such. They really are very cool. But, my trailer is getting a little too crowded.
yeah...if I were the second guy I'd set auctionsniper to hit it for 350.00 and not lose any sleep over it.
I am such a babe in the woods when it comes to all that. If only I could drop kick my head and get up to date. Na, I'll just plug along and become more senile.
