I don't have to worry about emissions or inspection- I have historical tags.

So, whats the EGR plugging deal?

EGR (Exhaust Gas Return) valve. Helps warm your car up quicker by cycling hot air from your exhaust back into the intake. It's only open for the first minute ot two and then closed once the engine is warmed up.
By eliminating it, your car will also take a bit longer to warm up.

The flexplate is on my camaro.. I screwed up 2 starters, not really ever thinking to take the cover off and look at it..lol..

          The Impala...

So, where exactly are these oil drain holes, and how would you suggest I clean em?

I don't believe its fouling out plugs. Its barely it at all burning oil.. the plugs were clean looking.. no oil..no carbon.

I'm just trying to find everyway possible to save a bit on gas.

I appreciate all the advice/suggestions- keep it comin guys.
          Thanks.
If you're not burning tons of oil and fouling out the rear plugs then dont worry about the drain holes. They are under the valve covers behind the last rocker arm. They are there to allow the oil that is pumped up through the rocker arms to drain back into the oil pan. Sometimes thy block up with sludge and oil will pool in the head and get sucked down the valve guides of the last cylinder, fouling out the plug and causing the engine to run down a cylinder. This era 305 and v6 are extremely prone to this. Yeah, the 200 metric trans. Its a pos. Be gentle with it.

GM= AC Delco Plugs and wires.
Ford = Autolite plugs, and MSD Wires
Chrysler/Dodge seem to somehow like Champion (gag) plugs and OEM MOPAR wires.

And there is a big difference in AC Delco plugs from aftermarket stores versus dealers. The ones from aftermarket are not as good....different manufacturing plant with cheaper quality I believe.-Lou

I must politely disagree....compare a dealer plug and an after market plug.......there are/were some differences providing nothing has changed.-Lou

                      As far as seattle goes

                      I'm probally breaking code here

                      BUT

The distributer here is seattle automotive they buy direct

Up till 2003 "ac delco dealers" could buy from any distributer

Well we were forced to buy from our local one ie our compition

Our business being one of the biggest ac delco after market dealers on the west coast were buying from the same distributer as auburn chevy

Here are the differences I seen from the Dealer and the Aftermarket ( assuming nothing has changed )
1: The print on the ceramic part of the plug that says "AC" on the dealer plugs had hard lines and looked "cleaner".....the aftermatket ones did not have the hard line....it looked like bleedthrough does on masking tape when you paint something

2: The positive electrodes where the plug wires go....( I may have this backwards) the aftermarkets were a dark grey/black in color. The dealers had a green tint to them....probably because they had a higher percentage of copper.

3: The stamping at the base of the plugs above the threads....the aftermarkets had a lot of burring from this process....the dealer plugs had cleaner looking stamps with little or no burring at all. -Lou
